It's sad when anyone passes when they've barely reached their half century but I have to agree on the overkill bit.
Here's what Radio 2 played yesterday between 2pm & 5pm, I was in the car for two hours of that and I could have easily re-tuned but I like Craig Charles. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b085fw4v |

Interesting the media waited until Christmas night to announce his death so it wouldn't have spoilt celebrations. I would guess that was planned.

Announced at 23:04 this evening. RIP. A great number of amazing songs.
This'll show up which networks are automated this evening. Just heard Smooth doing a link about the news. |

Not in deciding what coverage to give them at the point in time we're comparing. When Frank Sinatra died he was over 80 and his songs were already only played on a few oldies stations. It is very different for George Michael as he still had more than 50% of the population as fans from his 30 year career in their 20's,30's,40's and 50's, it is also within the scope of Heart's playlist, Magic, Gold the lot.
If there was a popular appeal figure to guide stations now on what their listeners would be interested in for a cross section of the UK population, George Michael would be more than double Frank Sinatra in appeal. |

It's been widely reported that he was found dead by his partner early on Christmas morning

Well, it could have been a minute before he was discovered, or 12 hours, but
without a crystal ball, or access to the pathologist's report, who knows ? Does it matter ? |
