It's the same with the Black Friday thing. Sales are not all they are cracked up to be.

You can get £5 of free seeds from Thompson & Morgan. I thought that was mildly exciting.

With the price of seed wot it is, that would be a packet and a half a packet of last year's left-overs then

I don't think there are many genuine sales a lot of places put prices up a week before so when they reduce them you think your having a bargain

Yes I think that's exactly what they do.

Currys PC World and Argos have similar great deals. I've been following a few items over the last few weeks and on some the 'sale' price was the standard price before they added an extra £20.

The best sale offer I ever saw was in the ethical, caring, sharing and good for the community Co-op.

A set of pans Start price £999
Reduced half price to £499
£199
£99
Sale price £75!

It made the shopping channel original prices seem almost plausible.

Don't get me wrong they were good pans but certainly not worth the price of a 10 year old car.

I believe they even made a statement to the effect that they would be stopping these sort of reductions weeks before this one appeared.

I have worked in retail most my life I see how they rip customers off there is no such thing as a sale they rip you off in the first place they over charge you for items and when they do reduce them there still making money from them ,only buy what you really need

Yes, just like the so-called 'Black Friday' sales. IMO only for the fool.

Bought a new for by nedroom a 55 inch flagship Sony tv, cost close to 4k inc 5 yr warrant and on Blackfrinday, cheaspest I saw was 440 quid plus 5 year warranty.
You can get deals but a lot of its a con

I did used to tip off my regular customers or those I thought could be trusted when I knew the price was going down.

Many times I've politely suggested that "maybe" they would like to wait until the next week or so, perhaps think about it longer (cough, tap price sign)
But while they have a "think" I'll save you one (clear throat)
