Indeed. And it is also the responsibility of the UK Government to ensure that rights and freedoms are protected, not the EU's.

So if you feel that these have been removed, hold the UK Government to account. Not the EU. They have nothing to do with it. Any blame lies with Messrs Heath, Wilson, Callaghan, Thatcher, Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron and May.
During the time of Heath, Wilson, Callaghan and Mrs Thatcher the EU was about trade, not total domination as it has now become. Blair and Brown handed over control of immigration based on dishonest immigration estimates by them and by the time Cameron arrived on the scene, there was so much competition for work that big business could create the 'zero-hours' phenomenon and drive down the pay and conditions of our own people.

this is nonsense because EFTA/EEA was created for trade and trade only ( partly by the UK), and we the UK left it to join the EEC/EU ('ever closer integration' etc)

Nope. It' the Leave campaigners, and specifically those in the Tory Party who now hold power who will be doing that.
Eh! Come again.

It's the Leave voters who are taking away our freedom by preventing us to travel around Europe easily and to be able to work there without restrictions.
My parents travelled all over Europe in the fifties before the EU was even thought of. Terror groups and criminals probably couldn't believe their luck the day border security check were removed, surely the most foolhardy of all the ridiculous politically motivated decisions that the EU imposed on us. People are dying as a result.

As someone who used to work in the Passport Office, I have to ask what on earth are you talking about? The UK government issues passports, not the EU.

Old blues were easy to forge. EU standardised passports are much more secure than the old UK ones.
Reminds me of when I flew from Manchester Airport earlier this month, the number of middle-aged and old people I saw with passports in blue cases with the old passport (with no EU) style on them... made me roll my eyes.

I wonder how many of them were purchaced since June, I can't imagine people being bothered enough to buy them beforehand. Now what colour people's passports are has suddenly become a major issue for some.

The irony.

They are useful protective covers a nothing more. Try getting these flimsy EU maroon passports wet and see what happens.
