All the values which the different religions teach about "treating others as you would want to be treated". etc. yet from 14th December - 4th January people die - young, old, celebrity, normal. Sometimes in devastating unforeseen circumstances. What is he playing at

Can't we just have a mass cull in mid January then return to normal? Does he not take a holiday to celebrate? If he does, maybe that is why these atrocities happen Should there not be a deputy God? Is that not what the angels are for?

If anyone can answer sensibly please do.

There is no sensible way to respond to this thread, other than the obvious... so I'll just go back to enjoying the smell of bacon.

He's just collecting guests for his Christmas and New Year's Eve parties.

Note ... Answer as sensible as the question.

Ridiculous thread as usual.
You really have no idea. Can you hold a one to one, face to face conversation with a real person?

It is pretty much impossible to understand God (if He exists) but you're not even trying.

This.

No ability for a non-existent entity to be able to take people during Christmas. Stephen Fry's interview on The Late Late Show mirrors what I think of the concept of a "God".

Because death happens every day and I'm afraid life isn't fair. Death is part of the circle of life and is indiscriminate of Christmas.

For Christians the hope in Jesus is that through his death on the cross death is beaten so even though we still habe physical death we can look forward to a new life with Him and I believe those we have lost in this life.

If you don't believe in that type of thing though it just goes back to my previous point.. life has hard and unfair.

Because he's Jewish, so probably stays open throughout.

My favourite god is Anubis one of whose roles is to escort people across the threshold from the world of the living to the afterlife.

As a god of the ancient Egyptian civilisation, I suspect he takes a dim view of the so-called son of the god of the ancient Israelite religion and probably doesn't feel any obligation to observe xmas in any way.

God is Orthodox and has no hold with the Julian Date, so he takes time off on Sat Jan 7th

I never used to understand that until I began to understand bureaucracy. The whole "Jesus died for us so that we could live" rhetoric.

Growing up, I had automatically considered bureaucracy to be such a petty, man-made and flawed construct that doesn't take into account the individual. It didn't even occur to me that an almighty God might work by it.

Just one of The Bible's many flaws I guess.

I read the thread title and said 'oh God!' out loud. Not sure what relevance that has but there you go. That's my contribution.

I thought it was a reference to the Yule Log thread, which isn't about chocolate cake

I think the best answer, considering the events of yesterday, is that 'God's stopped keeping score'.

God is a Bastard, Psychopathic, Controlling Serial Killer.

It's what they do.

More to be pitied than scolded.
