She talked about the Olympics. Then she exposed herself as religious. No mention of the deaths that occurred in 2016. No mention of the homeless on the streets. No mention of people having to work Boxing day. No mention of what "Christ" would think of the billion pound restoration work of the palace while millions go hungry.

Did anyone watch it? What did you think?

I think your posting is a bit rubbish.

I never watch it, so can't comment... even though I have... because you asked whether I did... which I didn't... which I posted... so I'll go.

Hopefully not in a priest to a alter boy kind of way.

Me neither. It's all exposed now though.

I ended up watching it this year, as I couldn't reach the remote control, but I was pleasantly surprised. Well done, Queen!

P.S. I'm working on Boxing Day, so what?

I thought it was excellent

But the Mona Lisa smile at the end had me confused

Maybe she needs some new teeth

Yes, I watched her Christmas message. I watch it every year. She's not exactly going to criticise the cost of restoring Buckingham Palace. Anyway, I think the message could have had in it about how people, or some, should get rid of their prejudices towards those that some religious people make judgements on. Something like that anyway. I think she did good though.

Yep, we watched it. Always do. The Queen has 10 minutes to send a message to the entire Commonwealth, not just Britain, so a message about the homeless on the streets of London or Manchester isn't going to have any relevance. Neither will the rest of the Commonwealth give a monkeys about how much the restoration of Buck House costs. As long as it's there, and the Queen lives in it, they're happy.

What the Commonwealth, mostly, wants is a nice, pleasant message with something homely that leaves them feeling warm and fuzzy inside, and glad that they're a part of something larger than themselves.... a commonwealth of nations.

And that has to fit into a ten minute broadcast.

There is a formula to this thing, which she's been doing since 1952 and she's pretty much got it weighed off.

If you don't like it or it's content, that's fine. Don't watch it. I'm sure the Queen won't be offended.

I didn't watch it, but she is the HEAD of the Church of England.

Yet she backs brexit and Theresa May's leather trousers while a million or so go so poor they have to rely on foodbanks

I thought that Her majesty did fine. She did not praise people for being homeless but she did praise all the people who help them.

The speech did not inspire me
Perhaps her speech was not for you

It is a festive tradition we have all grown up with. It's a simple thing that is always there. I will miss it when she is gone and I am not a royalist. I think a lot of other people will too.

It's the Queen's Christmas message.

The speech is what she gives when she opens parliament.

I searched for 'exposed queen' and I'm not sure that was the Elizabeth in any of those pictures. However the videos were quite well made

That's probably the one I was thinking of. Will Theresa May be writing the next one?

I don't listen to the Queen's Christmas message any more. It is just full of platitudes. She dare not say what she really thinks.

I don't mind the platitiudes, it's the blatant repetitiveness.
I made a mental checklist of items beforehand yesterday and ticked them off as she wheeled then out:
- the Commonwealth
- the success of the DofE Award and Prince's Trust
- Armed forces / Emergency services
- Jesus was principled - we should be more like Jesus

It needs to be more original and interesting.

I think a lot of people wouldn't notice if she didn't give another Christmas message.
