This is the thing, people think Christmas is over after Christmas day because the Christmas adverts aren't on anymore and you don't hear Mariah Carey or whoever on the radio. But most of us still have our trees up and are munching away on turkey and chocolate and spending time with family and friends.
I think a big part of it is some people love it so much they cant bear to see it end, so they strip the decorations etc prematurely. A bit like when someone dies and you chuck out all their stuff 2 days later.

I feel Christmas should last until the slog back to reality - the full return to work/school/college/uni/etc - kicks in. Luckily for me most of the shops around me that had the decorations up before Christmas still has them up there, plus there is still the Christmas specials on TV, radio, etc.
