CS - yet another bad guy
Beginning to lose count now.
Currently we have Pat Phelan who is the main villain and has been for most of this year. Another bad guy is Seb, Faye's boyfriend who of course had to be dodgy and is controlling. And now we have the presumed boyfriend of that girl who stole from David who Billy just happened to find hiding in the church. Of course this new dodgy bloke hangs around the street, and has seemingly abducted Bethany and looks like he will be the
Spoiler
Other bad guys we had this year was Phelan's friend Vinny, and at the start of the year Steph's ex with the startled look who robbed the Bistro with his friend. Oh yeah, and Callum Logan's gang members such as Clayton and his brother. And of course that businessman who had a slave. Becoming a bit ridiculous to be honest. If the blokes are not completely stupid and henpecked wimpish men they are either disgusting or outright villainous sleazebags with lack of redeeming qualities. Becoming a bit too much now. |

At least they develop new characters which is more than can be said for some other soaps!!
Villains are needed in modern day soaps, and you are jumping to conclusions about this anyway as very little info has been put out about the likes of Seb and Vinnie was hardly a villain! As for Clayton that character was created for Kylie's exit, it was done pretty well and realistically, he was hardly a proper villain. What would you prefer, lots of dull community based storylines and sing alongs, darts matches and general mundane rubbish. Give me new characters and some villains anyday! |

Having a villain is okay, but Corrie just overdoes it now. |

Corrie still has those characters, Peter, Nick and Robert are the modern day rounded characters that you refer to, they all have shown a darker side but also are good all rounders.
The villains thing has been a part of corrie for decades though. Soaps being on 5 times a week means that they need more characters and that will lead to probably having too many but that's what they are now. There are only so many storylines you can do with the existing cast before repetition sets in. Developing new characters with a mix of some villains I think is a necessity to keep viewers coming back. If you try and make the show go back in time you will start having serious problems. |

Why don't we have Famien trying to do her homework or Sophie running round with a clipboard?

I think it's time Ken had some speech therapy. He's talkin' like he's a Nuu Yawk mobster. It might give some people the wrong impression he's a villain instead of a highly educated schmuck.
