Lasted 2 days with Virgin !
I was with Sky for over 12 months when my husband noticed they had put the price up to £93 a month. Thats sky sports no movies. So he told Sky to cancell and we went with Virgin,
Got it set up on Thursday everything was fine loved You Tube (wish Sky would have it) Gets up Saturday and turned the tv on and the sound was at full blast. The remote sound button wouldnt work. Tried everything in the booklet still full blast. I even tried the other remote for the other box in the other room and nothing. So the husband phones Virgin and it was downhill all the way lol. Basically the customer service fella said it was our tellys fault ?. Bill said no its your remote its got to be the signal. If the tellys worked for 2 days with the Virgin remote how the hell can it be a tv problem? So they said they will send another remote out but it might not get here till after New Year because of the post. So Bill said so what are we to do we have family coming and we cant watch the telly. No its definatly your tv So Bil said well you can cancel it. Then Bill sets up the Sky box we still had a months usage. And guess what the telly sound works with the Sky remote. So it cant have been the telly or could it lol. Before anyone says why didnt you use the tv remote well the dog had eaten it a couple of years ago and as the sky remote worked we never bothered buying a new one lol |

So why didn't you use the volume buttons on the TV.
You could also, of course, have used the sky remote for volume control without setting up the sky box. |

Our dog chewed the original remote ...so using the sky one wasnt a problem. As for using the tv buttons at the side you have to stand at the side and count 5 buttons down to turn the flaming thing on lol...
But apart from that lol the virgin was only 2 days old and we hadnt had it long enough to get any dust on it lol. But the lad on the phone kept saying ITS YOUR FAULT ITS YOUR TELLYS FAULT IT WONT WORK ...lol |

I'd guess you accidently deprogrammed it
http://help.virginmedia.com/system/s...spart=EC_SM_59 Virgin won't send an engineer to program your remote and the one in the other room wouldn't work as it's set to that TV, the virgin box has no volume of it's own it controls the TV volume the same as Sky |

The TIVO remote is not the best for controlling the volume of your tv. You're supposed to use your tv remote (or sound system remote) for that. TIVO doesn't have an internal volume so the box wouldn't be causing the tv to be loud - it must have been stuck on the highest setting.
TBH, if you didn't have the patience to resolve this small issue then I think you did the right thing cancelling. TIVO can be a pain in general. |

It works fine if you program it correctly. |

As per the help page linked to above, the TiVo remote is the same principle as a Sky remote. You program the remote to operate the basic settings on your TV or AV amp such as volume mute and standby.
It works fine if you program it correctly. |
