Toyah Battersby has finally returned to Coronation Street after many years. While Toyah was never the happiest of characters, the three episodes since her return have shown her to be little more than a hard-faced and miserable old trout.

What a disappointment.

Yes this is me complaining again - hope you have something constructive to add

I am loving her, she is going through some really bad stuff, her marriage is over, her IVF failed and she has fallen in love with her step sisters ex husband, what do you want? a song and dance??

It was a great move bringing her back.

Totally agreed, some people are never happy.

Great move bringing her back - absolutely. Toyah is a great character from the last heyday of Corrie.

However, I don't want a song or a dance, but even just a slight edge of the 'old' Toyah would have been nice. She was, essentially, a happy-go-lucky character and I would've liked to see some of that come through. She is meant to have found the love of her life in Peter, yet she seemed like she barely wanted to be there and couldn't even crack a smile.

As I said, she is going through some heavy stuff, give her a chance, when she is with Peter properly she will be happy then .

I hope so, I really do. I'd just like to see some genuine happiness on Coronation Street that isn't forced humour.

Just my opinion.

Well in my opinion if a show I used to love was making me this toxic I would cut my loses and stop watching the programme.

Easier said than done.

People don't have to justify and give reasons for posting their opinions.

If the posts bother you that much, ignore them.

In fact I rarely post but I do lurk, and I am so sick of the same people posting the same negative stuff that I was compelled to respond today. Anyway that's me done I'll let you have your playground back.

All you've done is come on this thread and make digs at me and haven't once responded to me in person.

You have the front to call me 'toxic' when you've done little more than put me down, ignore me and avoid any attempt at entering into any kind of discussion.

I can't say that's quite how I would describe her tbh, but even if I'm misremembering, she was very young back then and anyway after the rape she didn't have a great deal to be happy-go-lucky about.
And she was clearly very happy to be back with Peter - their mutual love was pretty obvious in the hotel room, but they're both, her especially, worried about breaking the news to Leanne.

So overall I do think you're being overly harsh about her at this early stage.

Fair enough. You obviously saw things that I certainly did not see.

I certainly think that my days on DS are coming to a close after the last few days.

I can see you wearing the Britney jumpsuit KK.

It's a shame about Corrie. I used to watch it regularly but don't think I'll ever go back.

Not constructive, no, sorry.
A great shame. I liked the actress in Law & Order. I thought she had said she would only return to CS if there was a really good storyline; maybe I should keep more of an open mind and keep my fingers crossed.

Peter, Lee, Toyah and Nick have known one another for many years.
Peter and Toyah together now? No, I really don't think so IMO. Or f they had been seeing one another since "bumping into one another in Portsmouth", she would have told Leanne months ago.
I suppose in a round about way it could, taking maybe six months to a year, go round in a circle and lead to Leanne and Peter being together again - after Simon blackmailing his dad, and Eva and Toyah clashing etc.

Still, her and Peter make a hot couple.

Wonder if she will cross paths with Dr. Trueman (Robert).

They probably just like Toyah Battersby themselves

Fair comment

I've loved Corrie for years, but it's been (mostly) crap for ages now, and shows little sign of improving. I know it's a disproportionate reaction to a soap, but this depresses and annoys me, I know too that most of my comments lately are negative, and that I probably should just stop watching - but I keep hoping it'll get better, or I'm frightened of missing something maybe - and I just can't stay away from it. I'm addicted

Sorry if I seemed snappy towards you

Peter Barlow can't keep his trousers down, eh. How long until he cheats on our Toyah?
