Peter Barlow can't keep his trousers down, eh. How long until he cheats on our Toyah?

Toyah Battersby has finally returned to Coronation Street after many years. While Toyah was never the happiest of characters, the three episodes since her return have shown her to be little more than a hard-faced and miserable old trout.

What a disappointment.

Yes this is me complaining again - hope you have something constructive to add
I'm in complete agreement.

The actress proved herself to be exceptional in other roles while away from the cobbles, it was a real coup for Corrie to get her back. And what do they do with her character, put her in the most predictable, soap-cliche situation possible. I really do despair with them. They could have done something amazing here. What a wasted opportunity. This is exactly why I stopped watching a few years ago.

Not constructive, no, sorry.
A great shame. I liked the actress in Law & Order. I thought she had said she would only return to CS if there was a really good storyline; maybe I should keep more of an open mind and keep my fingers crossed.

Peter, Lee, Toyah and Nick have known one another for many years.
Peter and Toyah together now? No, I really don't think so IMO. Or f they had been seeing one another since "bumping into one another in Portsmouth", she would have told Leanne months ago.
I suppose in a round about way it could, taking maybe six months to a year, go round in a circle and lead to Leanne and Peter being together again - after Simon blackmailing his dad, and Eva and Toyah clashing etc.

Why have they written Toyah Battersby as an adulterer and cheating on her husband with a bloke who used to be with Leanne

The old Toyah would have never have done that as she hated Leanne when she was cheating on blokes

I wonder how Kate talked her into rejoining Corrie.

"So Georgina, we're looking to bring back your character and we've got some exciting plans in store. She'll return with her tail up and bed Weatherfield's most eligible bachelor, Peter Barlow. We figured as he's already slept with Leanne, he could complete the Battersby collection. You in?"

Which is bound to happen as a 'one night stand'.

Easier said than done.

People don't have to justify and give reasons for posting their opinions.

If the posts bother you that much, ignore them.
I stopped watching Corrie after 42 years when I stopped enjoying it. I stopped watching EE after 20 years when I stopped enjoying it. It's very easy to do

And here was me thinking the egos only lived in the EE threads😒
You might have to be a little more vigilant, they're everywhere. Right under your nose.

This could be the storyline where Les Battersby comes back after he finds out that Peter has been sleeping with both sisters at the same time so he can have an excuse to punch him

I spotted how Toyah has recently left husband Toby, but has already reverted to using surname Battersby rather than her married name.

She might have been Battersby all along. Not all women take their husband's name.

In fact I rarely post but I do lurk, and I am so sick of the same people posting the same negative stuff that I was compelled to respond today. Anyway that's me done I'll let you have your playground back.
you kind of need a rhino skin to post on digital spy with the negativity........ people will always imply you meant something different to what you actually posted Your playground comment was quite an apt reflection of the place now. do what i do just post your comments and don't bother reading through all the mindless crap from people that sit on here 6 hrs a day, i simply don't have the time infact if you reply to this i'll probably never see it again

Don,t mind Toyah coming back, i,ll just see how it pans out. My only slight criticism is that the actress playing her seems very skinny, she doesn,t look healthy.

Why on earth have they dressed her as a bag lady?
There's retro and then there's car boot sale!
Doesn't help her really

The old Toyah would have never have done that as she hated Leanne when she was cheating on blokes
And the character would know all about his alcoholice cheating lying useless father ways

She was harsh on the husband who she was cheating on. Was it his fault that she had an affair? She made out that it was his fault that the IVF never worked. Did she say that her husband was hitting her or is she playing the victim card?

She's been in two and a half episodes, rather early to make a full judgement about her character.

I hope so, I really do. I'd just like to see some genuine happiness on Coronation Street that isn't forced humour.

Just my opinion.
I would love to see that too. How many more miserable people do we need with loads of baggage.

Lightening the mood means more to me than a few silly moments with Eva et al.

I would have loved a lighthearted (not silly) character who was happy and witty and brought a little sunshine into the Street.

Not much chance of that at the moment I guess

Toyah being assaulted in the Ginnel all those years back, made the character we have know.

Totally agreed, some people are never happy.
Least of all Toyah judging by her miserable demeanour

I don't remember her being a sour-faced misery when she and Spider were together.

I don't buy her affair with Peter and who didn't see that coming from a mile off? Wasn't much of a surprise even before it leaked on Twitter.

Usually they bring a character in who is happy and then turns into a sour faced grump, so this is the reversal of that. She will be fine once her love is revealed to Leanne and Leanne is fine with it
