I am going to go against the grain here and say that I actually enjoyed it. I love Monty Python/Eric Idle anyway. Brian Cox will probably get chewed out by serious academic community for doing this.
I sat through enough dry quantum theory lectures at University and I think they did a pretty good job here to make it entertaining. I am not a big Brian Cox fan in general but it's nice seeing a physicist not have their head up their arse. I think BC was a good sport for doing this. At the end of the day, this is Christmas entertainment and using quantum theory as a topic is brave. Good on Eric Idle. Perhaps this is not something you can appreciate unless you have sat through dry physics lectures at University |

That was fun, I doubt anyone who sat though Connections, Cosmos, the Sky at Night etc, will have learned a single thing but that would be to miss the point entirely methinks. Cox was an excellent straight man and Hannah Waddingham was fantastic.

Absolutely loving this - it's funny, and while it's just pop-science, it's done well.

Is this the start of a whole new genre of popular programming? Coming to your tv screens soon... EastEnders the Musical, Newsnight the Musical, Great Railway Journeys the Musical. The possibilities as they say, are literally endless.

Camper than Christmas!
TEU was glorious, unadulterated fu**ery at its finest!
![]() Hilarious, slightly informative, tuneful, absolutely mad, zany, crazy, geeky musical theatre/panto that paid homage to some of the greats. Joyously original. A brave, modern twist for the tv/internet age that took a time-honoured genre and completely flipped it on its head. The script and score were cleverly inventive and the casting and performances from absolutely everyone were spot on. I found the Bee Gees number in particular to be riotously funny and reminiscent of Kenny Everett at his best. Perfect holiday fare, and I am looking forward to another viewing and spreading the word. Bravo Eric Idle and all involved.

It wasn't funny and felt very dated in places, but it was so good-natured i don't think i can bring myself to dislike it.

I am watching it now and I'm sticking with it just to see how good or bad it will get. The first 20 minutes was rubbish but then the Higgs Boson Hornpipe was quite good. Maybe there will be a few more little bits in the rest of it worth waiting for.

Not watched it yet but I assume it is a sort of TV version of The Infinite Monkey Cage which is always an excellent listen (all the old podcasts still available).

Caught the last half hour by accident after watching Witness for the Prosecution. I enjoyed it and intend to watch the first half hour on iPlayer.
Yes, there wasn't any science that we didn't know already, but it was all good light-hearted fun. |

Mixing science and comedy is a really shit idea though. Just look at how intrusive Dara o'Briain is on Stargazing Live.

Good on Brian for going along with the silliness. Some people on here obviously have lost their sense of humour over the Christmas holiday! |
