Brian Cox seems up for any sort of nonsense and with Eric Idle we knew it was not going to be a formal lecture. However it ended up being nothing. There was no theme to it, the other players lent very little to it and it seemed like a long 57 minute drawn out introduction to the Universe Song. What a waste of talent and effort all round.

Mixing science and comedy is a really shit idea though. Just look at how intrusive Dara o'Briain is on Stargazing Live.
This was OK as a one off but it's wasn't as good as Cox and Ince's Infinite Monkey Cage, the Christmas Special of which was broadcast yesterday and is available on iPlayer (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b085tq49) and wherever you get your podcasts from |

So at what point during the 57 minutes you watched did you find out that your remote wasn't working?

I'm a big Brian Cox fan, but this show was an epic fail for me.
The premise of making science more accessible through comedy was a good one, but for me it completely failed at both. The science was poor and the comedy was cringe. It was a nice idea and concept, and credit to them for giving it a shot. But please, never again. |

I have friends who went to Cox and Ince's stage show which is currently on tour - unfortunately I left it too late to get a ticket - and they said it was really good but didn't have any singing and dancing. |

Just watching it on iPlayer. I lasted 20 minutes then had to turn it off because it was so so bad.

I enjoyed most of it, except the blonde screechy lady.

I really like The Universe song so I was looking forward to it until I actually watched it. It was awful! I can't stand it when people pretend they don't know what's happening in the show like what Brian Cox had to do.
I do like that Warwick Davies poked fun at himself and he did add some humour to it, but most of it was cringy panto stuff. |

It must have been aimed at me. When it first started it seemed terrible but then I just took it as it came and ended up enjoying it. Liked the cast and I learnt stuff i didn't know before.
Wouldn't watch a series but as a one off it worked for me. |
