It is so sad Caroline Aherne has gone. And now Liz Smith has passed away. So do you think we will ever see a new episode of the Royle Family

There's more chance of a reunion taking place in my house than a comeback on television.

No.

That's it really. Like Only Fools, once thr creator and writer goes, job done.

I know there's Craig Cash but I doubt he would do it without Caroline and they cant do it without Denise.

So, in short...no.

Like OFAH, I switch over if it's one of the later 'newer' episodes.

Should have ended at Queen Of Sheba really.
If it were to return for one final episode it would require some really strong writing from Craig Cash.

No and I wouldn't want them to neither, it wouldn't be right without Denise/Caroline.

Agree. No Denise = no show. It wouldn't feel right.

Ricky Tomlinson said in an interview recently that there won't be any more. It would feel wrong without Denise

No.

It is a shame the last episode that was made was Joes Crackers, which was probably one of the worst

The last episode was "Barbara's Ring" and that was the worst. Joe's Crackers was a good episode.

Thanks wizzywick.

Only thing I could possibly see happening, Possibly Christmas 2017, as a UKTV Production, looking back at Royle Family Story

As much as it's one of my favourite shows of all time, it wouldn't feel right.

Will we ever see a new episode of the Royle Family in our lifetime?

Goodness me, I hope not. It was absolute rubbish!

Ricky Tomlinson & the sadly just departed Liz Smith was the only reason I watched it. I thought the series was overated IMHO.

You wouldn't be forced to watch.

Only if Craig Cash is able / prepared to write an episode that works. Could be interesting to see the family coping with Christmas post-Denise. Dave and Denise were my least favourite characters anyway.

I'm not sure if Craig Cash is up to writing it but if he was I wouldn't mind a final 'serious' episode that wraps up the series. No silly antics or jim acting like a monster, just the remaining family enjoying a day together.

How would they explain where Denise was? She wouldn't leave Dave would she? She'd be too lazy.

Please God no, that genre of chav show is right up there with Shameless, and the vomit inducing Mrs Brown's Boys, IMO I stress.

I think there should be one very last episode to wrap up the series for good, paying tribute to Caroline Aherne, Liz Smith and Geoffrey Hughes in the process.

The episode could feature the death of Denise and the family looking back at their times with her and other deceased cast members. The end of the episode could see the family raising their glasses (or Jim with his can of beer) to Denise before the credits roll.

It would not be disrespectful to do so and in fact would be a wonderful tribute to the lady that helped bring us one of the best comedies in recent times.

Why can't the existing body of episodes just be enjoyed. It was great at its high point and it should be left there.

I really wish people would stop hankering for impossible resurrections of past TV.

Maybe in 20 years time when Antony Royle and Saskia have grown up kids and Barbara is the new Nana.

The BBC will still be reviving old comedies even then.
