Good idea; and that someone should be Roy Hudd
Prefer Micheal Grade to do the billy quizz myself.
Chain reaction Barry interviewed by Jo Brand.

Bob Monkhouse. Probably our greatest comedian.

eta * 'Dentist on the Job'. It was good! Googling, it says he did 'Dentist In the Chair' too...I've never seen that!
One of the releases of Monty Python & the Holy Grail on disc starts playing Dentist on the Job, until you hear one of the Python's shout 'it's the wrong bloody film' a couple of minutes into it.

Oh, that's brilliant.

I found the interjections from audience members rather annoying. Would rather have had more of Bob

Just watched this on iplayer and enjoyed it. But seeing Mike Yarwood & his stories brought some sadness. A highly talented man in the shaddows.

Just caught up with it this morning; I enjoyed it but I kind of agree with you Carl - the talking heads didn't add a lot and didn't tell you much you didn't already know, and some of them were more than a little "Pseuds' Corner" ("a joke is the perfect three-act play." Er, OK...) But I guess if that was the whole of the live stage show that we saw, it only lasted about 40 minutes tops so they needed something to pad it out to an hour slot.

Before Fiona "Smack The Pony" Allen's caption came up, I have to say I was a tad confused as to why Suzi Perry had been invited along with the comedy great and good...

Someone really should sit down with Barry Cryer for a damned good chat before he dies - like Monkhouse you just know he has so many stories about so many in the showbiz biz.
There was a two-part Cryer interview on Radio 2 last Christmas which wasn't bad, despite Steve Wright being the interviewer (only joking Steve, "love the show" )

Just caught up with this. Truly fascinating stuff. I wonder how much Bob truly knew of his illness and how much time he had left when this was filmed. It felt as though he wanted to get a few things off his chest as well as passing on what is a glorious story of UK variety and television history.
Mike Yarwood very definitely was "the man" in the seventies. I did read once that he would have been mortified if his impressions had caused hurt to any of the people he impersonated. How wonderfully innocent that sounds now. Sad that hear of the problems he had when his tv career waned.

A real treat to watch both Bob and Mike.

Does she do anything now or is she busy being Parky's daughter in law?

I never thought about that. Fair enough.
