Sorry if it's slightly morbid, but which deaths have hit you hardest in what is undoubtedly a terrible year for widely-loved people passing on?

Rick Parfitt for me. I have been in tears at times, It's only happened to me twice before in the past when a celeb dies. Freddie Mercury and Rik Mayall.

Not trying to be obtuse, but Gary Shandling, The Larry Sanders show is probably my favourite comedy ever.

Not quite the same thread, is it and, if the moderators think this one is too similar (personally, I don't) they'll act on it.

Going back to this thread, Prince was a massive shock - I cried for days, and I generally don't shed tears over a celebrity death. I was very saddened by Bowie and George Michael but no tears.

Should have added a box for 'none of them' I would have ticked that one.

George Michael. He was my era.

Bowie was a HUGE shock but also Colin Vearncombe of Black fame. He died after a car accident in Ireland. Johan Cruyff was another sad loss that appears to get overlooked now. But actually because of his age George Michael dying was a MASSIVE shock.

I can't vote for one in particular, there were quite a few I was genuinely shocked to hear about.

There's been so many this year, I can't remember a year like this.

A few shocked me but the saddest I thought was Caroline Aherne.

This is the theme to Garry's show.
The opening theme to Garry's show.
This is the music that you hear
As you watch the credits.
We're almost at the part
Where I will start to whistle
Then we'll watch "It's Garry Shandling's Show"

It's difficult to compare but Anton Yelchin because of his age and the freak manner of his death would be up there.

Yes there was a lot more in 2015, however a lot of them had made no impact on me as I didn't know who they were.

A few of them were upsetting but for me it was the death of Victoria Wood that was the most awful

It was so unexpected and I felt some connection with her as she went to my school and was in the year below me (though I didn't know her at the time)

she was so jolly and funny and talented........

I was shocked by George Michael because of his age but but the one that affected me most was Bowie as I am a huge fan and have been for decades

Because they seemed to come out of the blue,

David Bowie

David Gest (Especially after the CBB incident)

George Michael

Prince.

Victoria Wood. Since I was little my friends and I would recite excerpts from her shows. She came across as such a genuine and likable person and the thought that we won't be getting anything new from her ever again really upset me at the time. I've never cried at the death of a celebrity before although I came close at the death of Terry Pratchett. But this knocked me for six. Reading the words of those who were close to her made me cry and seeing her work over Christmas has brought me close again and again.
