Max is a liar and schemer at heart, it comes naturally to him. He is definitely planning some kind of revenge.

He sent them a Christmas pudding with a note saying "from Lucy". He's playing the long game.

It would be completely unrealistic if Max lets things lie (unrealistic even in Soapland!). I reckon something juicy lies ahead.

exactly the pudding definitely came from him as he confirmed he'd sent the turkey so in the next few weeks hopefully he will get his revenge

What he's more likely to do is draw on all their goodwill to secure a job and a home. The SOC version of Max will be a worthy community leader. He'll probably go and live with Dot.

Hopefully Max will be a villain. In the 89s you had people like Nick Cotton and Den Watts as villains. There was probably a few more but I didn't watch it back then.

I'm only halfway through and Lauren has just come in and said "We're going" but why would Lauren want to meet her dad who knows she lied, plus the couple responsible, in a public place like the Vic??

I thought he was due to the reference he made to his note when he remembered Janes drunk and he said I never forget again. Total baloney is he just becomes their best friend.

He has to be. Nobody would change to the extent that they are happy to draw a line under such a life changing miscarriage of justice. What surprises me is that everybody is just happy to take his forgiveness at face value.

Haven't watched Eastenders since November, but this is Sean O'Connor we're talking about. What's the most mundane and banal possible outcome? That's the one that will happen.

To be honest, I don't think Max really needs to do that much if he wants to turn the screws on Ian and Jane.

He just needs to be around, maybe drop the occasional remark about how he regrets hurting his children, missing out on their lives etc and Ian and Jane's guilt will do the rest for them.

Look how upset the Christmas pudding got Ian.

To be honest why would SOC change tack now?

Its pretty obvious his vision is to make the characters all likeable, a community spirit is his way he wants the show to be. He doesn't want villains in the typical way we see in soaps, its all about everyday issues.

I think what we will see is families and individuals struggles with 'events' rather than plotting revenge type storylines or having any sensational type plots. His interview hinted at plenty of laughs and some tears with the occasional shock. To me, what we've seen since August is pretty much how the show will be from now on. I think people who are expecting a different approach next year are going to be disappointed.

Max will probably revert back to type, he's never really been a villain and I don't see him doing anything to the Beale's other than their own guilt of what they did to him.

I'm not sure, it seems like there's going to be more to Max than what he's letting on to Jane and Ian. He didn't just come back just to meet up with Lauren and Abi, he sent the Beales the food (I can't remember what) that had a message saying it from Lucy, to unnerve them. He also had a bit of a look about him when Jane and Ian first approached him, like he had a hidden agenda. Also, the last time he saw Lauren, he said she was dead to him and didn't want to know her or Abi at all. Neither of them have reached out to try to make amends and neither of them bothered to even go to his court hearing when he was released. They haven't given him any reason for him to forgive them and he knows Lauren is close to the Beales, so he's probably using her to get his revenge and I can't say I blame him. With daughters like that, who needs enemies?
