Second display video
Hi all,
I've recently purchased a "HP Pavilion Full HD 15.6" Laptop with the latest Intel® Core™ i7 Processor" with Windows 10 (full spec: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computi...51793-pdt.html) Annoyingly, when I connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI and I open a video file (MP4, WMV, AVI etc...) in either VLC media player or Windows media player, the video will open on my laptop screen, rather than on my TV screen (second display). I've already tried opening the video, resizing it on my TV, closing it and re-opening, this works temporarily, but if I close the video when in full screen, I'm back to square one. This is annoying as I don't want to continuously open videos and drag them across to my TV screen. I just want them to open automatically on my TV screen as they did on my previous laptop. Any suggestions? |

Easy way is to press Windows key (on keyboard) and P and select Duplicate from the sidebar which pops up.
However if you want both displays separate you may be able to tweak settings if you right click on Intel HD Graphics (or words to that effect) icon in your task bar and select Graphics Properties. |

I would like an extended display rather than a duplicate. I messed around with the display settings for my Intel HD graphics but still haven't solved the issue

You could try making the external display the primary? But some laptops don't allow that.
See http://www.intel.co.uk/content/www/u...000005580.html |

See http://www.intel.co.uk/content/www/u...000005580.html I've tried that but I prefer to leave my laptop screen as the main display as it's the closest screen to me. There has to be a way to make video files open on your second display. |

Windows + shift + Left arrow (or right arrow) is a quick fix.

You need to get it all going then dig into vlc settings
Tools | Preferences | Video Then under Display Device, you need to select the tv from the drop down \\DISPLAY n Also, the Output drop down should be Direct X Can't find an up todate screen shot, but this is near enough http://superuser.com/questions/87436...tor-on-windows I have only done this on W8.1 though. |
