Thanks for clarifying that although it does seem to be a Statutory Instrument rather than an amendment of the Act however I'm sure you can clarify that. After all, you are the expert and can quote passages almost word for word.
http://www.publications.parliament.u...60047_en_2.htm

There are a good number of other amendments which have taken place. As said previously this is an ongoing process as society evolves/changes.

It is/was an act I had to familiarise myself with and keep abreast of during my working career.

You can't claim to respect free speech and democracy then start making this sort of wild unfounded allegations. You either believe in free speech without hinderance or you don't.

If you start to verbally abuse people simply because you disagree with their point of view then you don't believe in the right of free speech. It really is as black and white as that.
You are not being verbally abused, nor are the things being said about you completely unfounded. You can hardly deny that you're coming across as a bit of a homophobe! Or of course you could be trolling - it's hard to say which.

No. You're just being evasive . . again.
Well if you say so, then who I am to argue..............

There is no answer.
Just more evasion and, has already been suggested, the poster seems to be unable to say what he really wants to say. Perhaps he recognises his views may be challenged or even seen as objectionable? We'll never know.

No not at all. I was implying that they may exert an undue amount of influence as opposed to other minority groups, by the very fact they have superior numbers at the seat of power.
When it comes to people in power, I would have thought their sexuality was the least relevant thing about them.

Much more important is their ability to be rational and listen to their constituents.

Hmm! called a bigot, told to get out of 'my country' (that was from someone who owns the UK) troll, moron to name but a few. You will not find one single instance of me agreeing with RH, not one, nor do I imply that what he said may be true.

This is all about certain people on this thread who simply have no concept that what RH said was simply a tongue in cheek aside, designed to get people talking. He absolutely achieved that goal.

All I have done throughout this thread is defend his right to say what he said and countered some ridiculous notions written by people who quite frankly haven't a clue.

Look, I'm disabled and have had to counter arguments from people and put up with issues for years and years. To me though it's simply water off a ducks back. I have my life to live and I don't let myself be defined by others.

At Uni I've had times when I've gone to parties with friends and people have come up to me and said "Oh you're the gay one" - obviously as if they've been 'warned' before hand.
hey Sweet, how did you reply ? "that's correct, and you must be the tactful one"

You've done more than that though. For example, you've suggested that the gay community is seeking special treatment, which they are not. So you rightly got pulled up on that.

A stupid man makes a stupid comment and half the country are outraged. Giving this idiot more attention than his daft joke deserves.

Well let's examine that one a bit more closely. Until gay marriage was legalised gay couples could have a civil partnership. That entitled those that choose to go down this route, tax breaks amongst other things and if one of them died, the ability to pass on the others pension rights i.e. similar to a widows pension.

None of those rights and tax breaks are open to a heterosexual couple who simply decide to co-habit rather than choosing to get married, no matter how long they stay together.

I would say that isn't equality for the gay community that's superiority.
Superiority? Civil partnership was offered as an inferior fob off option when gay couples weren't allowed the equality of marriage. Those couples now have to pay again for the privilege of having their civil partnership converted into a marriage. Couples with a civil partnership are not simply cohabiting, they've made a legally registered commitment to each other. What commitment have cohabiting couples made? It's entirely their own responsibility to make a commitment and legal provision for each other if that's what they want.
Government policy made the option unavailable to heterosexual couples because they've always been allowed to marry. Understand yet?

No not at all. I was implying that they may exert an undue amount of influence as opposed to other minority groups, by the very fact they have superior numbers at the seat of power.
Do tell, what influence do you fear? "Turning" people gay?

Dear Marge, I had some icecream yesterday. Does this make me gay? It was homemade by my (female) partner. Does this mean she's a lesbian? Worried of Walls End.
Dear Andrew, stay calm, lock yourself in the lav and ring the police.....
(Take some ice cream, they may be a while)

Half the country? Hardly. I think more people are complaining about the imaginary outrage than people who are actually outraged.

Was the comment supposed to be a joke? If so, I don't get it unless the butt of the joke was Hammond looking like a bit of a plank in an Alf Garnett "let's laugh at the stupid homophobe" kind of way.

I think most of their humour revolves around making themselves look ridiculous, so yeah, it was a joke.

I'll save the outrage for when Hammond does something properly offensive instead of cowardly innuendo, when's he going to get pissed on telly and sexually assault a lesbian ?

Their website is even more interesting and he explains how the business formed and the brand name came about. "Rather than call it Dougs Big Ice Cream Truck or Doug and Bryans whatever, i just called it the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck because the whole thing seemed kind of gay".

I see everyone is still ignoring and not understanding a scripted joke. I guess you have to be Finnish.
It's okay to overlook something that clears it all up when you've bookmarked links to government webpages. I want to read more about Acts and amendments. I'd wager this is funnier than any Finnish ad.

I see the usual crowd are out in force in here, baiting people and then running crying to the mods to get them banned when they bite.

Why dothe moderators constantly fall for it? Do they not see that their actions are what is killing this forum as a place of debate?

Yes, I said if you are going to hold homophobic opinions you should leave 'my country' (my country being a tolerant place that isn't offended by gay people) - I don't see what's wrong with that. You keep claiming you haven't agreed with RH but then post things about how gay people are over-represented or that they complain too much.

If you're going to troll, at least be consistent.

tbh 'is ice-cream gay' isn't the best starting point for a good debate. Can't see anything good coming from that. It will either be people with their backs up or people seeking to annoy the ones with their backs up for laughs.

Forgive me if similar views have been expressed (got a page or two in…realised I didn't want to read nearly 20 pages before replying).

While not having watched it (not my thing) I'm sure it was meant as inane banter. However…

Yes, while EVERYONE loves ice cream I sort of get the cheeky remark (assuming I'm not hearing it completely out of context). It's hardly promoted to men, is it? It's either promoted to kids (I'm sure he wasn't saying all kids are gay, that sounds like Clarkson teasing/twisting his remarks to make him feel awkward as buddies do) but let's face it…the majority of ice cream ads are aimed at women. And most of them imply the women is getting off from it, like they're about to orgasm after every bite. We all know what that ice cream bar symbolizes.

It's just one of those things that's seemingly hardly ever advertised as a "manly food stuff" (usually the exact opposite) but everyone knows men love it too. Ice cream is one of my favourite foods.
