BIB - this will be exactly what lay behind that decision. And, in all fairness, I would not expect BBC staff to be called back to work from their Xmas holidays to assemble a clip show - however devastating this news might be.

But the BBC needs to act quickly - there is a potentially brilliant 'George Michael at the BBC'-type tribute to be compiled …

I only caught the end of the show because I didn't know it was on.

I watched Last Christmas on YouTube last week because I like reading the comments underneath from all parts of the world wishing everybody a merry Christmas. Unusually, I then clicked on a few more of George Michael's hits and thought what a great singer he was, with a far better tone and range than the likes of Frank Sinatra.

Here he is faultlessly singing live on Parkinson;

Bowie's and Prince's passing didn't bother me, but George Michael's does.

Better than Sinatra? Really? Give over! In all the hyperbolic plaudits being given to Michael, I don't think anyone's been THAT bold. Each to their own, ymmv, as they say...

Bowie, Prince and George have all affected me greatly out of all the celebs who passed this year, it is those 3 who meant the most in my life. Bowie 1st, then Prince then george. All played a huge part in my growing up.
