My response contains the words "no" and "sherlock".

If you'd actually read what I said, you'll notice that I said that the UK government would never invest in the same things if it had the choice. It doesn't display the same sort of decentralist, long-term thinking that the EU has shown.

Of course we won't get all the money back directly from the EU - that makes no sense at all - but we get it back by being part of a massive single market, with the trade and opportunity that results. You seem unable to look at the big picture, which is unfortunate. Facts seem to be a challenge too.

Exactly - the EU funds nothing. German, Dutch and British taxpayers do - and no one ever asked our permission.

Facts escape me? Says someone who thought that the difference between 52/48 was 2%.

With that logic, London taxpayers fund basically everyone else in the UK. When did we ask for their permission? Will they be Lexiting?

(let's forget that the EU can't just take the money - the democratically elected national governments chose to give it to them. I accept that using the word "democracy" in relation to the UK parliament and government verges on a Brexit-class lie, but that's what they claim we are)

Actually it's a 4 percentage point difference. It's around an 8% difference.

The UK is one nation. The err EU isn't. I have a problem with Scotland getting £1000 a head more than England. But that's another issue. It's still our money. How dare the EU give us it back and pretend they're doing us a favour. In the 43 years we've been a member, we've never had a penny more back than what we've put in.

So when the UK government agrees to give money to the EU, and when people elected by the UK population (MEPs, elected using a far better system than we use for the UK parliament) decide how to spend it, this is awful.

When it does the same within the UK (with far fewer checks and balances), this is wonderful.

Got it. Brexshitters do have an odd grasp on reality.

It's not just MEP's that decide how the money is spent. Don't tell lies.

Not really a lie. MEPs play a central role.

But since you insist: Commissioners, who are directly approved by the democratically elected MEPs are also in the mix, as are the heads of government of every member state (i.e. including May)

I wish the UK government and cabinet was similarly approved by MPs.

That doesn't make them legitimate.

They are more legitimate than any UK government cabinet member. Or any member of the house of Lords, or many MPs given the travesty that is FPTP.

The only Lib Dem fantasy is that they'll be electable any time soon.

Didn't they take a seat off the Tories at a by election recently?
