On a side note, Disney will be scratching their heads for the next SW film.

Funnily enough I had just read this tweet prior to seeing this thread!
Elizabeth Windsor @Queen_UK Someone find David Attenborough. Wrap him in bubble wrap. Put him somewhere safe until 2016 is over. #2016SodOff

The BBC radio report said that she'd already filmed her scenes for the next SW film even though it's not due for release until late next year
RIP Carrie.............. |

Gutted. Not just a great actor, but a genuinely witty and smart writer too.
RIP General Leia. May the Force be with you. |

Very sad though it seemed at the time to be quite a major heart attack and was taken straight to intensive care.

I saw a dreadful TV Movie a while back called Romancing The Bride, but there was a memorable performance by Carrie Fisher in it, she was laugh-out-loud funny. Worth it for that alone. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0477079/...nm_flmg_act_28
I can't believe she was 60, not that it's old, but I remember her first film, Shampoo, with Warren Beatty. She must have been in her late teens. Was that so long ago?? |

They'd best give those ILM bods who did the Rogue One thing a call, they're going to be busy.

She had a great cameo as herself in Cronenberg's Maps To The Stars, as well.

This is not a surprise she has been ill for a while apparently. Still awful news for her family.

Undoubtedly the worst thing about Rogue One was the misguided and utterly unnecessarily inclusion of a bad CGI Peter Cushing.
Edit : Predictive text makes Tarkin - Tarkington??? ![]()

I saw the first Star Wars movie at the cinema in 1978 at the age of 14. Princess Leia pushed all the right buttons.
I am sorry to say that 2016 is only the start of a significant increase in celebrity deaths. The rise of TV and pop music in the 50s makes a lot of our known celebrities now in their 70s to 90s. Every year in this century has seen ever more popular people move on. |

Genuinely really gutted about this.
People may wonder why we feel sadden when a famous person die that we've never met before, but I just think that's even more amazing a person can reach out to so many people around the world and feel some sort of connection. |

I thought it was actually a very good CGI Peter Cushing, but more importantly, the character of Tarkington looked exactly like he did in A New Hope, which was kind of necessary, seeing as it takes place immediately afterwards.
The CGI Leia was worse though (and also unnecessary). Rogue One is weighed down by the poor decisions of accountants moon-lighting as script writers kowtowing to fan-service for $$$ though. Which is a shame. |

I don't know about anyone else, but I know all of the above enriched my life. Bowie Prince and George were the soundtrack of my life along with Nick Cave (please don't die Nick) i loved their work, i loved seeing them perform, i love the memories i have of being with friends going to their gigs singing along to their songs at various points throughout my life. They are precious. |

I just watched Return of the Jedi for very the first time on Sky channel 311 on Christmas eve, saw the previous two back in 1997 in the cinemas as part of the 20th anniversary special, glad I've finally managed see all three now. Devastated to hear about Carrie. I was thinking about her health while watching ROTJ, just when we thought things were getting better for her ![]() Quote:
What is sad is debbie Reynolds is still alive to bury her own daughter....
Its going to happen more often unfortunately as people are living longer, people who live into their 90s will be carrying children with them who are in their 70s. |
