There was football on the Monday evening on the telly, I remember watching it cos I was still cursing her for causing the cancellation of the Liverpool game the day before.

Bolton vs Everton, think off the top of my head the score was 0-0.

Never understood why football games and comedies are cancelled.

It's as if they are saying you have to be sad now, you can't be enjoying yourself. Anyone who expresses a grievance with such pointless actions is branded unpatriotic, or insensitive or a moron...no..we just kinda want to continue living our lives thanks very much. The option exists for people not to watch the sport and not to watch comedy on TV. The whole nation isn't a misbehaved child needing to be punished.

Would the nation go into mourning like the day when we heard Diana was killed in a car crash

I just hope the country doesn't go fully mental like they did when Diana died. It's the fakeness and all the crap about "the nation is in mourning" and "she had great respect from the entire nation" and "the whole country needs to pay their respects" that I can't stand. It's the assumption we all have to somehow care and acknowledge the event.

When she dies, I'll do the same thing I do every day. Go to work, come home, eat, watch TV (unless it's all pointlessly cancelled-you can't force people to be sad) and then go to bed. I may even leave the country for a week or so to miss out the initial tidal wave of tears which will practically flow out of the media.”

You sound like a character out of a Beckett play.

I will be able to avoid the coverage of the inevitable grief fest but it worries me that real news that will get totally buried during the duration.

Real people you see in the street won't.

But the media will fill itself with hours/pages of people with tears streaming down thier faces, stories of people spending thousands on flowers to take down and throw at the gates of Buckingham Palace. There will be encouragement to grieve as the media will not report on anything other than how sad everyone is, how terrible it is and how grateful we all are to have lived during her time. These people will very much be in the minority as most will just get on with their lives, but the medial will make it out to be like every man and his dog is suffering from a traumatic experience and you're a terrorist for not caring.

The nation did not go into mourning. The media told us we all had.

I've a feeling that Charles and Camilla will live forever.

On the other hand, rigor mortis could already have set in. Looking at the pair of them most of the time, it's difficult to tell.

It makes no sense in this day and age. People who want to watch comedy will stick in DVDs of their favourite sitcoms or go on Youtube or Netflix or whatever and watch it there. What about music channels? Will they still be playing pop music or will we all be forced to listen to sad music until after the funeral? Yes it will be a sad event but at the end of the day life has to go on.

The radio stations will all go back to back so called sombre music for however long
I did also hear a rumour that the major online streaming services from the likes of Netflix, Sky (now tv) and the BBC will either go offline/display a static picture or just be limited to certain programmes out of respect

There will be a whip round to pay for the funeral, perhaps a lying in state in Buck House with admission by over priced ticket

Would they actually be able to do that? Isn't Netflix based in the US? So if that was true then no comedy there either? Oh well, there's always a VPN... or one could just watch DVDs.

Absolute rubbish. Until decimal currency was introduced in 1971 you could still use Victorian pennies.

Any unissued coins will be melted down and used again.

All the coins with the Queens head will be around for years. Until each coin size or shape is changed in fact. But I suspect you know this. Some fools will swallow these stories though.
What name??

The media will go on and on and on about how shocked we are -that a 90+ year old has died. There will be royal themed programmes for the fioreseeable future, nostalgia ones, documentaries to persuade us that Charles is up to snuff etc.

And in return we will get 1 days bank holiday.

They'll announce it on January 1st so that we dont get an extra day off.

As you pay for those I don't see how they could do it.
