There was no "real" tv for a good few days after diana died. A lot of radio stations just played lift music
Bolton vs Everton, think off the top of my head the score was 0-0. |

Err the crown estate and the majority of its profits?
Quote:
Who owns The Crown Estate? https://www.thecrownestate.co.uk/our...thecrownestateThe Crown Estate belongs to the reigning monarch 'in right of The Crown', that is, it is owned by the monarch for the duration of their reign, by virtue of their accession to the throne. But it is not the private property of the monarch - it cannot be sold by the monarch, nor do revenues from it belong to the monarch. The Crown Quote:
The Crown is a corporation sole that represents the legal embodiment of executive, legislative, and judicial governance. It developed first in the Kingdom of England as a separation of the literal crown and property of the nation state from the person and personal property of the monarch.

Never understood why football games and comedies are cancelled.
It's as if they are saying you have to be sad now, you can't be enjoying yourself. Anyone who expresses a grievance with such pointless actions is branded unpatriotic, or insensitive or a moron...no..we just kinda want to continue living our lives thanks very much. The option exists for people not to watch the sport and not to watch comedy on TV. The whole nation isn't a misbehaved child needing to be punished. |

Would the nation go into mourning like the day when we heard Diana was killed in a car crash

I hope they don't expect shops to close and the country to grind to a halt. It's the modern day, there is no need for that kind of thing. My workplace won't close down, so I don't see why a shop should, if people are too sad to shop then it's them who shouldn't bother going shopping, but some of us still need to eat, we can't all survive on grief porn and a 25 part Daily Mail pullout about her life. I just hope the country doesn't go fully mental like they did when Diana died. It's the fakeness and all the crap about "the nation is in mourning" and "she had great respect from the entire nation" and "the whole country needs to pay their respects" that I can't stand. It's the assumption we all have to somehow care and acknowledge the event.
When she dies, I'll do the same thing I do every day. Go to work, come home, eat, watch TV (unless it's all pointlessly cancelled-you can't force people to be sad) and then go to bed. I may even leave the country for a week or so to miss out the initial tidal wave of tears which will practically flow out of the media.

I will be able to avoid the coverage of the inevitable grief fest but it worries me that real news that will get totally buried during the duration.

But the media will fill itself with hours/pages of people with tears streaming down thier faces, stories of people spending thousands on flowers to take down and throw at the gates of Buckingham Palace. There will be encouragement to grieve as the media will not report on anything other than how sad everyone is, how terrible it is and how grateful we all are to have lived during her time. These people will very much be in the minority as most will just get on with their lives, but the medial will make it out to be like every man and his dog is suffering from a traumatic experience and you're a terrorist for not caring. |

I'm going to predict that Charles goes before his mum.
You saw it here first. By the way, if the police are looking at this afterwards I had nothing to do with it. On the other hand, rigor mortis could already have set in. Looking at the pair of them most of the time, it's difficult to tell. |

The radio stations will all go back to back so called sombre music for however long
I did also hear a rumour that the major online streaming services from the likes of Netflix, Sky (now tv) and the BBC will either go offline/display a static picture or just be limited to certain programmes out of respect |

The media will go on and on and on about how shocked we are -that a 90+ year old has died. There will be royal themed programmes for the fioreseeable future, nostalgia ones, documentaries to persuade us that Charles is up to snuff etc.
And in return we will get 1 days bank holiday. |

All the coins with the Queens head will be around for years. Until each coin size or shape is changed in fact. But I suspect you know this. Some fools will swallow these stories though.
anyone that much of a fool can send their notes to me, I will give them half of the face value as I am a kind soul
