Never understood why ... comedies are cancelled.
I feel it's not to protect us but to protect the actors. As I recall one of the first programmes the BBC showed after the announcement that JFK had been assassinated was "The Harry Worth Show". I'm convinced it more or less ended poor old Harry's career. People watching in a state of shock didn't find him at all funny, and never did ever again. Not his fault, but he sufferered for it.
That's my theory, anyway.

No we wont. The best she could have hoped for was Queen Consort as it is she will be Princess Consort
Even if Charlie died before her she wouldnt be kept on the throne as Queen,. The throne would pass to William

I really don't understand the liking for Mrs Browns boys, it's so cringey and unfunny to me and that's me saying that

I must say I remember JFK dying and have been reminded on the anniversary every year since on various programmes the TV have trawled up. Cannot say it moved me much at the time where I wanted TV to go into mourning as JFK dying meant very little to me, never has and never will.

She'll have had a fair innings and provided jug ears hasn't carked it before his mum, he takes the top spot. I have no respect for the monarchy but on a humanitarian level, yep, it will be sad for her loved ones. They'll grieve and carry on as best they can. The 'suits' will make sure of that.

Charles will become king immediately, but won't be crowned for about a year.
According to one article in recent days reporting on her 'heavy cold', it's already been decided that there will not be such a long gap between Charles ascending to the throne and his coronation as there was with Her Maj (she became Queen in Feb 52 but the coronation wasn't till June 53)

I think she's got a few years in her left (hopefully anyway) and unfortunately Prince Philip will pop his clogs first.
Not necessairily, but if he DOES go first I think she won't last very long without him.

It's the fakeness and all the crap about "the nation is in mourning" and "she had great respect from the entire nation" and "the whole country needs to pay their respects" that I can't stand. It's the assumption we all have to somehow care and acknowledge the event.

you can't force people to be sad
Would the nation go into mourning like the day when we heard Diana was killed in a car crash
The nation did not go into mourning. The media told us we all had.
Indeed, but that didn't stop Blair telling the world that "the whole country is saddened" when Margaret snuffed it!

You will have to explain the relevance of that observation; it certainly escapes me.

The way 2016 is going I wouldn't be surprised if her majesty kicks it before the years out. She's also been quite sick lately too. Obviously I don't want it to happen but it's going to be a massive shock. What will happen? Will there be a few days of mourning and a few days off work? Will we be off work for the funeral? How quickly will Charles become king? Will it cost the country a lot of money if the markets close? We don't really have a precedent of a long reigning monarch dying in this day and age
A mahoooooosive expensive funeral.

Why will it be a shock? She's in her 90's.

There's a current rumour on Twitter (I know) surrounding a current media blackout regarding death of someone famous. Many are speculating that it's the Queen.

Only those who are sad will be mourning

The nation did not go into mourning. The media told us we all had.
and many believed it.

I will be rather sad but it will also give be a chance to reduce my Tivo saved list

According to the link below, which was just tweeted, the news is fake and the account that started the rumour has been suspended.

" liking this page"
hundreds of fans immediately started writing their messages of condolence on the Facebook page, expressing their sadness that the talented 90-year-old monarch was dead

I wouldn't really describe her as 'talented' , maybe she's an excellent banjo player ?

That explains why his TV series ran for over 100 episodes during the 60s.

Couple of days bank holiday I should imagine. One for the funeral (at least) then one for Charles coronation

Fiddler perhaps.

I like to see these rumours as I enjoy reading through the comments. There's some seriously worrying people out there.

There have been a few tweets today even before the fake article tweet. It's talking about a media blackout until 8am tomorrow as per protocol.

Probably all rubbish (and I hope so too) but it wouldn't surprise me.

Nothing can explain that.
