I feel it's not to protect us but to protect the actors. As I recall one of the first programmes the BBC showed after the announcement that JFK had been assassinated was "The Harry Worth Show". I'm convinced it more or less ended poor old Harry's career. People watching in a state of shock didn't find him at all funny, and never did ever again. Not his fault, but he sufferered for it.

I must say I remember JFK dying and have been reminded on the anniversary every year since on various programmes the TV have trawled up. Cannot say it moved me much at the time where I wanted TV to go into mourning as JFK dying meant very little to me, never has and never will.
She'll have had a fair innings and provided jug ears hasn't carked it before his mum, he takes the top spot. I have no respect for the monarchy but on a humanitarian level, yep, it will be sad for her loved ones. They'll grieve and carry on as best they can. The 'suits' will make sure of that.

According to one article in recent days reporting on her 'heavy cold', it's already been decided that there will not be such a long gap between Charles ascending to the throne and his coronation as there was with Her Maj (she became Queen in Feb 52 but the coronation wasn't till June 53)

There have been a few tweets today even before the fake article tweet. It's talking about a media blackout until 8am tomorrow as per protocol.
Probably all rubbish (and I hope so too) but it wouldn't surprise me.
