She repulses me and ruins every show she is on.
Absolutely fab in Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries actually!

I thoroughly enjoyed and think it's a great concept in the same mould as Karl Pilkington but focusing on retirement.

Great stuff

Could not be any less like Karl's programmes. Bears absolutely no resemblance at all.

She is a disgusting women. I have been saying for years what a nasty person she is well known to be "away" from the camera and her true persona was there for all to see on the show. She has got away with her shtick the last few years of playing the batty old aunt on chat shows and purposely craving attention by being vulgar on every single appearence. She repulses me and ruins every show she is on.
Me too . I love the concept of this show and enjoy it as long as I mute the nasty , vulgar angry woman

Anyone else notice the 'aren't I clever putting him in his place' look after she shouted like a fishwife at one of the residents? i believe she was playing to her right-on fellow lefty fans back home. Also when she made those remarks about people in gated communities keeping to themselves, closing the rest of the people out as if to say 'we don't want you' I wondered what her thoughts were on a certain community who do exactly that back home. Her American accent was as weird as herself. I thought I would have liked her, but no.

Things got very heated between Miriam and that man. I thought they were going to be asked to leave. So it seems it's alright to live there as long as you agree with everyone elses opinions but if you don't they attack you. Awful place. It was like the Stepford Wives.

Absolute disgraceful behaviour from Miriam. Who on earth does she thinks she is/ represent?
As another poster said if it had been Clarkson and crew they would have had to issue an apology Their sin was a car number plate..
Miriam insulted the hosts of the retirement home- regardless of what is thought about their way of life. Hitler/ / Jews/ Trump all thrown in from a so called celebrity.
Who is she anyway. what is she "famous " for .
She's a well-known actress. Have you really never heard of her before?

Wish there was a series in Saudi / North Korea wonder how she would behave then?
Visiting a democratic country with free speech does not give the visitor an entitlement to aggressive and rude to the hosts.
Will be too late to erase her from the rest of the series. It was in such bad taste and whoever in the BBC allowed this to go ahead needs sacking.
Yes, she was extremely rude to a couple of people which made me cringe a bit, but that was just a few seconds out of the whole programme so it didn't bother me too much. You need some strong characters in a programme like this.

Indeed, and we now have the gay lobby getting hysterical over a schoolboy joke about an ice-cream. Yet so far I've heard no comments (beyond this forum) about the Marigold unpleasantness.
I don't suppose you will. It's a programme of only minority interest compared to Clarkson et al.

I must have been watching something different.
Me too. Miriam struck me as being the highlight of the show (as she was in the orginal series). The other characters are just so dull.

She's just about bearable until she starts talking about her bodily functions and other stuff that goes over the line to gross, she can be stomach churning at times. It's just as well she doesn't cook because, if she were cooking for me, I wouldn't be able to eat it as there's something 'unhygienic' seeming about her.

What I don't quite get is that they live in a gated community to feel safe (i.e. keep people with guns out), yet allow the residents to hoard them inside the complex. Presumably if you are well off and white it's OK.

I guess I will never understand the American psyche.

Have you never been to Orlando?

It's a good holiday destination in my opinion. Universal Studios is so much better than the English theme-parks.
Oh i love Universal studio,s, my favourite holiday ever. Loved the jaws ride, which i think is closed now and the Jurassic park ride.

I love Miriam and her acting. The show would be abysmally bland without her.

I'm sure the row with the other resident was a set-up. However, he needed shouting at.

Miriam has got balls. I admire her for that too.

Me too, I thought the whole point of a gated community was a feeling of safety they didn't feel in the outside world. What's the point in it being gated if there is still the potential for some unhinged pensioner brandishing a gun at them. No logic there.

Ten times worse - Stepford Wives with guns. Why MM would say, in conclusion, that the trip has made her less anxious about getting old is anyone's guess - apart from the fact that it illustrated how much it helps if you have money, which she does.

Me too. Trump supporters think they can bully people into submission and become really aggressive when someone disagrees with them. They can't deal with criticism or different opinions to theirs in a mature and intelligent manner.

For me...she made the show and as for the New York American accent she went into, it was hilarious!
I loved her Welsh accent too.

She's what you'd call the quintessential English eccentric

I agree, she makes the show for me. She's funny and speaks her mind.

Two of my favourites.

Do you remember the Twister ride? I think that's also closed. Have you been on the hulk rollercoaster? It's the best. The spiderman ride is pretty good as well.

The Jaws ride is closed? I was at the one in LA which I think is still open.

Hear hear, well said. I didn't think she was too bad in the previous shows but thought she was absolutely vile last night. How on earth she was allowed by the BBC to get away with her racist, anti American views ("oh look at all those awful flags") was quite extraordinary.
Poor old Clarkson would have been pilloried to death by the media and in here, if he had have had a similar rant.

Her views weren't racist, perhaps xenophobic though.

It's not a generalisation. It's true. Have you spoken to many of them? I mean face to face. They become aggressive when you try to have a reasoned debate with them.

The programme would have been utterly boring without Miriam Margolyes. Loved the way she stood up to that vile Trump supporter -- he rudely and aggressively butted in while MM was having a discussion with those women who were Hillary Clinton supporters. And as for the forum member who said Miriam was being racist towards Americans -- I had to laugh!
