All of Britain read books and go to museums and galleries?
The point was that the American looked a little bemused at the question (that was how I took it).

This was a great travelogue and seemed to bring out the best in them all. Loved Bobby's interview. I've been scared of dying since about 5 years old and it worries me that my thoughts will be gone, this was a fabulous story of older people finding what's right for them . It's usually what you know. Didn't see the point of the wordless English women who was no help.

In the Truman Show episode, was anyone amazed at the massive badger on the head of a man in the second village? I had to rewind and was dissapointed we didn't see his face.

I often wonder if they feel they are genuinely fooling people re their real age. I must be odd as I find them strangely fascinating in a macabre way.
What doctor would give someone 10 face lifts? Do they need qualifications or are they just not good.

One, that unlike NHS doctors, doesn't get paid for merely accepting your signature on a registration form.

Someone who probably knows that if they turn down business another Dr. will get the money. Many of those faces were just awful, mutilated beyond repair.

I just wish Jeremy Clarkson was a bit older.
I love loose cannons me.

Miriam is so vulgar . Ugh
Rosemarys always looks untidy and unkempt . Its like she doesn't look in the mirror b
Doesn't she just ? Another one just like her was cook Clarissa Dickson Wright - great personality but she looked very grubby !

And, having accepted your signature, then has to see you any number of times without restriction for that money. The US doctors can charge for every little thing they do, so encourage attendance.

Rosemary working in the restaurant kitchen said she felt like a goldfish, I'm sure if she had a look in one of those containers behind her she'd have found one.

Miriam really looks for offence everywhere she goes, the guy in the store 'didn't want to help her' she moaned. The poor chap probably didn't speak any English!

To be honest that is who I thought I was watching until I took my Christmas head off and thought about it.

In the world of mad food people Clarissa lead a life that knocks all the pretenders who have followed into a cocked hat.

Her father was a surgeon, she became the youngest ever barrister at 21, and inherited £2.8m in her twenties in 1975.

Then alcoholism, bankruptcy a few times and the series where the The Two Fat Ladies smoked and drank whilst preparing food twenty years ago.

The whole lot of them were not a good advertisement for hygiene and cleanliness.

Hear hear, well said. I didn't think she was too bad in the previous shows but thought she was absolutely vile last night. How on earth she was allowed by the BBC to get away with her racist, anti American views ("oh look at all those awful flags") was quite extraordinary.
Poor old Clarkson would have been pilloried to death by the media and in here, if he had have had a similar rant.
I found the quote about the flags very odd! They are proud to fly their National Flag, and many households do, and most businesses to do, some of the flags are ginormous"!

In the UK we shy away from flying our National Flag, we might offend someone ! WHAT ? This is the UK, it IS our Flag.
We even need 'permission' to fly the thing too !

Have you never been to Orlando?

It's a good holiday destination in my opinion. Universal Studios is so much better than the English theme-parks.
I went to the USA for the first time in 2006, never fancied it before, due to the way it is portrayed over here, well what we see on TV and what it;s like there is totally different, all the people we have met so far have been very friendly, shops and Hotels fall over themselves to be polite and helpful and in the West the weather is brill !!

Nonsense. The reason we don't fly our flag like the Americans do is generally not because we might offend someone. We just see no need to display pride in our country in such an overt fashion. It's a very "British" thing to downplay our emotions, and explains why some find the profusion of American flags in that country so odd.

We know who we are.
We don't need reminding all the time.

Well I absolutely loved both episodes (and the first one in India).

For me, Miriam and Rosemary make the show. I laugh all the way through it when they're both on. Yes, Miriam can be a bit non-pc at times but I still giggle.

I wish this group would continue their travels elsewhere but I'm looking forward to the new series.

I agree about the flags. Their overt patriotism would make most British people cringe.

I was sitting next to an ex-Marine (I think) in a bar in an American hotel once, and we were discussing something (I forget what) and he said "and that's what makes America great!". Can you imagine a (self-effacing) Brit saying something like that about this country?

Quite frankly, flag waving fills me with nausea. I'm secure and proud enough to know who I am without all that nonsense.

Brits are probably the most likely of any nationality to be found sitting in a bar slagging off their own country.

What a hoot not - I am trying to get my head around Bill Oddie and Rustie Lee together. Amanda Barrie I remember reading an interview with her and she didn't come across well, she moaned about the roles she had played and how she had got typecast. She had upset many cancer sufferers who had written sympathy letters to her when she had breast cancer and she had just ignored them all and said I didn't know what to say.
