Will she be taking Kyle with her or will she let Cain look after him

Well, she's already run off to Manchester so must only be round the corner now. I wonder if that was a little in-joke about Denise Black returning to Corrie.

I thought that as Manchester was mentioned

Legally Cain has no rights to Kyle as he agreed to give him up for adoption. Joanie is his legal guardian so I assume he'll stay with her, assuming she is leaving ED.

I think eventually Kyle will go and live with CAin , on the farm with Moira as his substitute mum. THis I assumed from the remark from Moira that the dungarees/overalls Cain'd bought for Kylw would fit right in 'Here on the farm'.

Joanie will go to Manchester to join Ken and Daniel. She can't take Kyle with her as there is no room at Ken's for another little one. But she will visit every now and then.

He only has to legally apply for his rights.

But he has no rights. Legally he is not the child's father - he gave up those rights when he agreed to Kyle being adopted. Kyle's adoptive parents named Joanie as his legal guardian in the event of their death, which is what's happened. Also as stated in another post I really can't see any court giving custody to someone living in a caravan even if he hadn't lost his legal rights.

I can't see her sticking about

If she is leaving, maybe Joanie will die off screen and leave instructions in her will for Kyle to live with Cain (if that can actually happen legally...???)

Think they would like the little man to remain in Emmerdale so maybe Jeannie will decide he would have a better life down on the farm in Emmerdale.

Cheers to everyone for your replies. Looks like nothing confirmed yet but outcome could be interesting.

From a viewer perspective, I think there is more character scope in Corrie's Denise than there is in Emmerdale's Joanie now. Unless they put her with Rodney? Or someone else?
In Corrie, there are three storyline strands already - her past relationship with Ken, her relationship with Daniel, and her abandonment of Daniel.

Completely agree! Always liked her in Corrie, she was very complicated! Whereas Joanie I'm afraid is just drab and as dull as dishwater and her pairing with Zak has just never rang true to me.

Denise Osbourne on the other hand has so much more potential just as you've stated!

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Joanie does die as someone's suggested because it'll be easier to contrive then for Cain to get Kyle, because as we all know Cain always gets his own way in the end

I agree, she definitely would have more of an interesting role in Corrie if they have offered her a return opportunity. I would have loved to have seen her partnered up with Rodney back when they initially hinted at them dating, but I don't know if part-timer Rodney would even give Joanie much of anything to do other than hover around the periphery of the village and bring Kyle into the picture when needed. She always felt like a temporary character anyways.

Sorry I didn't mean he should have custody.
The child's needs come first. He's bonded with Kyle and vice versa, he's Kyle's biological father and his adoptive parents are dead. Under those extreme circumstances, who they appointed Guardian doesn't automatically legally override his biological father's rights.
So yes he does have rights and he could be awarded custody.

I agree. I want Denise back in Corrie and to see her relationship with Daniel explored.

I don't think Joanie would be missed by many. To be fair, she might've been a decent character if she wasn't stupidly paired with Zak. There was really nowhere for the character to go after that

I liked Joanie before all the Zak nonsense. I hope she stays but I guess it's not likely if Corrie is calling I loved Denise as a character, but you know, that was then, this is now...
