Not sure he's ever been clean. Even when supposedly off the booze and other drugs he seemed addicted to other things be. Smokes 100+ tags a day I think. Had a period exercising I read and he did that to excess as well. It's always seemed to me that he just swaps one addiction for another.
Jeeze, are they addictive? must be tricky before Christmas, all those tags hanging around, just waiting to be smoked

This is something he is not in control of, obviously he is not well.
Just think of all the tax he's paid, not just on his salary when he was playing football, fags, booze. I would say he's given a lot to this country in many ways, including keeping extremely good journalists occupied.
he's not all bad, he's probably paid for a small hospital in his time

The man is ill. He's a long term using alcoholic, which isn't his only addictive illness and he's bi-polar. A horrible combination for anyone to deal with.
Apart from his occasional paid appearances when he's able, what "regular" job can he do and when he's so well known?
addiction and bipolar are hugely linked and they also tend to feed off each other.

it`s not just substances, beeper`s get addiction based [for want of a better term] behaviours and interests.

it`s hard to put in a nutshell but being bipolar high is similar to being off your head on speed [which is also very addictive] and highs can go on for months..

Thing is though, the overwhelming majority of people seem to make it through life without getting into any of the exchanges he gets involved in - unless you're saying they're all made up, that is?
I just can't see the relevance of that comment. Millions of people have addictions and dependencies, but they are not a public figure and therefore don't suffer the indignities Gazza does.

Let's deal with the facts and realities of the situation shall we, rather than pointless whataboutery.

The relevance being that whether a public figure or not, the overwhelming majority of individuals manage to get through life behaving like normal reasonable people, and therefore don't suffer the self inflicted indignities, such as the type Gazza experiences. Even if they are bi-polar or alcoholics.

Let's deal with the facts and realities of the situation shall we, rather than pointless whataboutery.
Precisely what I am doing, and they are not "whatabouteries" they are the truth.

I assumed that tags was a typo for tabs, cigarettes in Geordie slang.

it's likely Gazza will go soon but he should at least show some self respect and die with dignity not going out like this

He is enabled far too much and always will be. Sadly it will be his demise.

Since posters have been mentioning George Best -

a pub in Manchester opened its doors on Xmas day to feed the homeless. So far, so good. Considering the alcohol problems that most homeless have, the landlord's George Best T-shirt was inappropriate to say the least see pic.
