*RE-ISSUED POLL*

Seen recently on the X Factor of all places, promoting a single which is/was 'number one in America' was painful to watch and was a bit of a lead balloon, I imagined the kids hastily Googling to find out who Madness had been... and when.

But you know, I think there's no doubt that back in the day this was a band who made and had fun in the music biz with some terrific tunes, almost anthemic in the case of Baggy Trousers and House Of Fun.

Neither are my faves - I'll likely go for Embarrassment and My Girl or maybe The Sun And The Rain, I'm quite fond of that one.

So I'm asking readers to pick a pair here - vote for your top two Madness singles and let's see what comes out on top - there are 25 singles here, all of which featured in the UK Top 40.

I voted for ''My Girl'', which i think is maybe Madness' best song, overall, but i could so easily have voted for ''Night Boat To Cairo'', because i really do love the punky energy of that song.

In the end my votes went to Embarrassment and The Sun And The Rain for sentimental reasons and the fact that maybe no-one else will vote for it.

Only made #44 so just missed out. Reckon that one would be a bit of a fan's favourite though.

Oh - I forgot that - it should've been much higher!

To be honest - it's hard to narrow down Madness singles to a Top 2 as they've had so many classics. Looking at your list there are still classics such as 'Grey Day' & 'Shut Up' that have not scored yet!

And My Girl has just one vote so far!

At the top of the poll it states two choices (sometimes I make it three if it's a substantial list).

My favourite tracks are album tracks, bed and breakfast man, in the middle of the night, or even madness is all in the mind.

I could listen to Absolutely on repeat, mostly for the album tracks. Especially ERNIE and Disappear.

The Rise and Fall is an underrated gem as well.

Also Keep Moving, for the title track and Victoria Gardens.

You can't narrow Madness down to two tracks

That isn't the intention. It's asking people which two singles are favourites. Hearing that the band made some great album tracks that I've never sampled is refreshing indeed. My loss.

I get what you're asking and I've looked at the list several times, I just can't pick two.

This is because you're a proper fan and should be congratulated. The point you made is more than vaild because I chose never to buy one of their albums but I'm not judging them at all - I know they were great.

I'm not trying to sound better than anyone else, far from it. If you own all their albums or have just heard the singles, Madness are a cracking band.

If you've never seen them live, do so. You won't regret it.
