BBC left Wing Hypocrisy - Miriam Margolyes
Last night on the Real Marigold Hotel, we were treated to a full blown left wing, human activist attack on people who had done nothing more than be Republican.
Miriam Margolyes went out of her way to cause trouble and start arguments with her firm beliefs in left wing politics and HATRED of Donald Trump. Hatred spouted out on television on the BBC. Visiting establishments she knew full well were 90%+ Republican, she went out of her way to bait people and start arguments. Visiting a country club as a guest, she belittled people for their Republican beliefs and when she found two other women who were Democrat supporters, in a very loud voice and within a few feet of others stated that Donald Trump was the same as Hitler. If this has been Jeremy Clarkson, it would have been front page news. At least he saves his verbal issues for the narrative and not the public. Miriam Margolyes needs serious anger counselling and the BBC should reprimand her publicly for using this program as a platform for her activist beliefs. She was a disgrace and made me ashamed to be British. |

I'm not sure what your point is?
Lesbian Jewish Palestinian activist is left wing shocker! People are allowed to have political opinions, you know? I think it's good to see that people are really taking against Trump - good. He is dangerous, volatile and frightening - we need to challenge and insult him at every opportunity. |

Also, Trump isn't a Jew. His ancestry is Lutheran and he was raised as a Protestant. I do believe she's beautiful on the inside - not sure how her talking about bodily functions is a bad thing? Oh but you're the type of person who thinks women should only talk about make-up and kitchens, aren't you? |

My point is the hypocrisy of lambasting Jeremy Clarkson for his stupid remarks while this foul mouthed woman seem protected.
In both series so far, she has gone out of her way to offend people. In other walks of BBC life, she does exactly the same with impunity.....Why? One rule for the left wing activist and one for the right wing idiot. What she said last night is pu e hate talk...It's a crime in the UK now. Comparing Donald Trump to Hitler in a loud voice on a public TV program is going too far. She is entitled to her views in private but not to broadcast hate in such a way. Of course, trendy lefties will always support the likes of her while attacking anyone with a different view. She should be sacked. |

They didnt though really imo, as Trump lost the popular vote. I agree about not getting the full picture though, there must be a reason why the turnout in some states was low.

The BBC has enough right-wing voices on the news and such, so why not have a few left-wing ones too? |

I watched the programme, and to be fair , she was only voicing an opinion. There was nothing vitriolic about it .

No, the difference is Jeremy Clarkson said deliberately racist, sexist and xenophobic things to try to be funny. Miriam Margolyes isn't trying to be funny - she's just expressing a view point.
She absolutely is entitled to broadcast her views, actually. The BBC has enough right-wing voices on the news and such, so why not have a few left-wing ones too? She is a foul mouthed person who has turned many people off BBC shows..read the other threads. For some strange reason, she is protected. The BBC has enough right wing voices? What world are you living in? It is so far to the left, the right hand side has become atrophied. |

Do you honestly think that it is OK to on open air compare Donald Trump to one of the most evil men who has ever lived? |

We can't condemn a particular behaviour from one person, and then allow the same behaviour from another person.
This principle has all but vanished in the UK these days. It's a slow erosion of justice. |

Do you get all clammy if somebody swears? Feel a bit sorry for you. Also, as for the BBC, their news output is incredibly right-wing. Not surprising that you can't see it, seeing as you are right-wing yourself. |

Totally agree. I don't understand all the 'left wing' BBC accusations - for me it has never been anything less than right-wing.
Name all of these right wing people at the BBC |

In the " free" world you are allowed to Voice An opinion, like this thread.
People do not have to agree. And if you Voice an opinion, then it gives a right of reply. This thread is totally over the top reaction to one persons opinions but blown up to be the whole BBC making a mountain out of a molehill. OP seems to advocate censorship and no opinions allowed on the BBC, |

OK here we go.
Name all of these right wing people at the BBC Neil's editor Robbie Gibb is a former chief-of-staff to Tory Francis Maude. Nick Robinson - founding member of Macclesfield Young Conservatives, President of Oxford University Conservative Association, broke a protester's placard that had been silently held behind him wanting the abolition of Tory cuts, blatantly lied and said Lloyds and RBS would move their HQ from Scotland if it went independent when they said no such thing, took a photo with a Britain First leader. Nick's former producer Thea Rogers went on to work for George Osborne as his special adviser in 2012. Chris Patten, former BBC Trust Chairman, used to be a Tory MP and is still a Lord. There are hundreds more examples. |

Yeah, unless you were gay or poor or black. Millions died of AIDS due to Reagan refusing to acknowledge it until 1986 when it had already killed millions. He didn't support gay rights in any way.
Around 640,000 Americans have died of AIDS in total since the late 1970s, not remotely millions. The overwhelming majority have died relatively recently. In 1992, nearly 4 years after Reagan left office, the total hit 200,000. The Reagans were Hollywood actors in the 30s-50s and then he was Governor of California for 8 years. They had lots of gay friends and both spoke to Rock Hudson and wrote to him letters you can read online after it was revealed he was dying of AIDS. You cannot judge Ronald Reagan, who would be 105 years old if he were alive, or any other 1980s leader, by the advanced standards of 2016. There was no gay equality anywhere in the 1980s - tiny Denmark brought in a form of partnership in 1989 but it did not give equality - and there was great fear of AIDS everywhere. The UK was a singular exception, the Thatcher spending more on AIDS awareness than every other leading western country added together. The USA was at the forefront of medical research into AIDS much of it partially supported by the Reagan government and by many Republican charity donors. But there was no instantly found cure. It took a decade and a half to find a reliable course of drugs that could keep sufferers alive. You cannot split this by politics or party - Democrat candidates for the White House did not offer anything on gay rights or AIDS. It is interesting to check the records of Trump and Clinton today. He came out in favour of gay marriage in 1999. She was 15 years behind and only came out in favour of it after the Supreme Court declared bans on gay marriage unconstitutional. Hillary is the one on record repeatedly saying marriage is a sacred institution between a man and a woman. As I said above, you cannot split this by politics or party. |

I am shocked that anyone can agree with her remarks on Donald Trump. How on earth is he as dangerous as one of histories most evil people? Is he going to wage a "final solution" on anyone...of course not . Is he going to nationalise all of Americas industry..of course not. Is he going to imprison tens of thousands of people who disagree with his doctrine..of course not.
But I guess you are just baiting me. He is more dangerous than Hitler. Oh and yes, he will imprison people who disagree with him, you don't need to worry about that. |

No, we can't judge him by modern standards but seeing as he actually wanted to get rid of civil rights, I think it's fair to say he wasn't exactly progressive. |
