Cable my street, When???
How can I tell if or ever virgin will cable up my street.
Apparently as we're on a slight incline virgin decided against cabling further up my road when they did the original cabling. Is there a map of the streets they bothered to rip up and more importantly the Ines they will connect to their network in future. They can never compete with Sky and now YouView because of this. Help would be massively appreciated. Regards, Dan |

They have a website to register for updates. Conveniently called Cable My Street.

I have registered.
But what good is that without updates. No follow up or info on new cabling areas. Do they even care about the people who register? |

Whilst you can't rule out incompetence totally, could it be that they only issue an update if there is anything to report? After all not much point sending out "we are not cabling your street" e-mails over and over again. And do you really want to know that somewhere 100 miles away is getting cabled up when it won't affect you?
That pretty much seems to be what their FAQs are saying. https://www.virginmedia.com/cablemystreet/faq Some of the companies on the council's list replied in a matter of minutes. Others, like the electricity network operator, took a day or two as they decided to send their response in the post. Others, like Virgin, never replied at all, and when I phoned the dedicated number it sounded like they were handling it with an outsouced call centre and not someone who actually knows what I want. I didn't pursue it as I don't live in a cabled street and just hoped the council wasn't bothered about the lack of a response. |

They really are a bit incompetent. I had to file a request for a network map for my street when I needed to dig up the pavement.

When I moved from Derby I registered my details for Cable My Street.
Lo-and-behold my 'community' has been chosen for future development. Not sure when that'll be but if it's after November 2017 (minimum term with Plusnet ends then) I'll be happy. |
