I'm off this week and next. Going to spend with the other half just getting out and about. Today going to see a movie and have a meal. Other plans include possibly winter wonderland and leaving town for sightseeing in other districts. What are your plans for the time off?

Am torn between doing as little as possible - jammie days on sofa, continuing to work through our Star Wars marathon and eating - or throwing self into some house projects.

Am getting house re-decorated and am heading out now to browse some charity shops for nice furniture to paint and reupholster...

Also want to gut the garage...again...and turn it into a games room so I can throw the kids out there and pretend they've moved out.

I've done nothing since Christmas eve apart from spend my time with family and friends. Stayed at the parents for a couple of days, back home now and shopping some bargains online. Going into London for NYE, staying at the Shard, meal and the fireworks and some spa stuff booked for NYD. That's enough for me, going to spend the few days after before I go back to work re-decorating,hence the shopping for new bits.

Think about needing more time off. As even with 10 days off after Christmas, birthday, NY and family traditions I only have one actual day of doing sweet FA.

People get more time off over Christmas ? The only time off i have seen anyone get so far is Christmas Day and Boxing Day, then it's back to work.

Some of us had yesterday off as well. So Monday & Tuesday public holidays, rest of the week annual leave...then Hogmanay weekend, followed by Monday 2nd & Tuesday 3rd public holidays.

I was back in work today. It actually wasn't too bad and very quiet.

I could have taken the whole week off but going on past experience of previous Christmas's thought it wise to have a few alcohol free days before I'm away for the New Year weekend! I would be too easily tempted.

I have a strict no drinking rule if Im at work next day!

Many companies mandate that annual leave is used on the three working days between Boxing Day and New Years day so that the office can be shut to reduce costs (as most employees would take them anyway).

I was back today. I work in finance and that doesn't stop for anything. I was amazed by the amount of our clients back at work yesterday and sending emails expecting us to be in.

In 25+ years at work, I've never worked anywhere that closes over Christmas

I been off work since where I work closed half day on 23rd Dec.
Been trying to catch up on the shows I recorded over the last few weeks as well as using Netflix. Plus was out at my sisters Christmas Eve for a few hours.
Was also out Christmas day in the afternoon for a few hours.
Also got family friends from mums side of the family coming New Years day for a few hours.
They still come every year even though mum died over 5 years ago.
I don't go back to work till 9th Jan. I had to take the 5th and 6th Jan off as AL to get the full 2 weeks off.

Got two mates coming to visit me from abroad, one from Madrid the other from Dublin tomorrow.

I am hosting a new year's eve party, there will be 6 of us altogether.

Don't know what to cook for main course on new year's eve yet.

12 grapes for each person, at midnight, one grape per bell.

Sure; before, after. But when the bells start, stuff those grapes in your gob.
