Have you ever eaten at a 2 or 3 michelin star restaurant?
What was the name of the restaurant, was the food nice, and was it worth the money?

I went to Sat Bains earlier this month. It was absolutely amazing, the best food I've ever eaten. We did the 10 course taster menu plus the additional 62 degree duck egg (that he got a perfect score for on Great British Menu). Every course was stunning. A special mention for the desserts though which were brilliant but quite unusual. Aerated chocolate with tobacco and cherry, one that comprised of sweet corn, popcorn, passion fruit and soy sauce, one that was white chocolate and tomato and then finally Thai green curry ice cream wrapped in candy floss!
The food came to £110 a head plus drinks and tip on top of that and it was worth every penny, just a fantastic experience. My only gripe is that the beer quality didn't match the food. I wish more restaurants would make a bigger effort with beer. I'm not bothered about wine but appreciate really good beer and feel more restaurants should do beers matched to the food in the same way they do with wine. I've only ever been in two restaurants that do this and it was great. |

OH and I went to Dublin last year for my 40th birthday- he booked a table at Patrick Guilbard's restaurant. It was amazing from start to finish. I'm not a religious person, but it was like a religious experience.
Think the bill came to about £220 in total including drinks. It was totally worth the money.I've eaten in a few one stars- best one was House of Tides in Newcastle. |

Nice though if one can afford to eat in one establishment and then leave hungry no thanks

Why would you leave hungry though? I've never left hungry after 7, 8, 9, 10 plus courses. As for the cost. My view is that I'd rather eat out less often but in nicer places than regularly in average places. Even if I was skint I'd save up and eat out somewhere great once a year. |

If you can eat 8 courses then your not having enough either
If you're leaving hungry then the restaurant is doing it wrong and is clearly a poor establishment. |

The tiny portion for each course was very small even for a anorexic person and that was not only my personal comments everyone was saying the same. You don't have to leave feeling stuffed so you carnt ****ing move . If you can eat 8 courses then your not having enough either

There are many different types of Michellin-starred restaurants, and many don't do tasting menus or small portions. You're not going to go away hungry from Le Gavroche, with a whole roast duck between two people, for example. |

Well, that's a load of rubbish. I've never left hungry after doing a tasting menu, the whole point is that it's lots of smaller portions but after 8 plus courses you're nicely full. You have the equivalent amount of food as you would on a three course meal but it's just spread out over more courses. I love doing tasting menus as you often have stuff that you wouldn't necessarily choose from an a-la-carte menu.
If you're leaving hungry then the restaurant is doing it wrong and is clearly a poor establishment. |

Thank you for your advice. We are not big eaters by any means, but I will agree about the establishment in Piccadilly Manchester hope to find a better upgrade

So you didn't actually go anywhere starred then as Manchester hasn't got any Michelin starred restaurants.
![]() I've ate at a couple of single star places, but never a multiple star place. I'll have to change that soon. |
