Don't know if anyone knows how DPD plan their routes? The two deliveries signed for but not delivered to me have one thing in common. The phone tracker in both cases showed the van to be approximately 1 hour away from me when they were signed for.
Now definitely for the second one it was delivered to the next door business. So do business deleveries get priority with DPD? I ask because assuming their delivery was at the correct time then the delivery driver in theory had a delivery plan that meant delivering to two properties side by side an hour apart. Given the pressures on delivery drivers that seems ridiculous. |

I've noticed delivery people getting increasingly lazy about these things. We have a concierge at the end of the road who can sign for small parcels if the residents are out, and now that they've figured that out they don't even bother trying to deliver to the flats. I'm often sitting here waiting for a delivery when I get an email from reception saying they've signed for a parcel and please can I go collect it asap due to the limited space they have. And they never post a card through the door saying delivery was attempted and it's been left in my safe place, obviously because they've never been to the door.

This time pressure is no doubt the reason for most of the recurring complaints (on this thread and many others) but few people seem willing to consider the situation from someone else's point of view. |

I'm pretty sure that you would do the same thing if you were a courier company driver who is under extreme time pressure (which almost all of them are). I certainly would.

I'm not claiming life as a delivery driver is rosy at all, and I'm sure it sucks at times, but that's their employers' responsibility, not for customers to sit back and just accept that their deliveries are handled carelessly. |

So we're to put up with poor service because the courier companies treat their drivers badly? The <place> where our parcels can be kept really is limited, it's meant to be only used if a resident isn't home to accept a delivery, not because the drivers don't want to knock on a few doors.

They are left (and signed for) by "a concierge at the end of the road who can sign for small parcels if the residents are out". This seems perfectly reasonable to me. Regardless of whether the residents are in fact at home, the parcels are left in a secure place which will enable the recipients to collect them at their convenience. Is this really so inconvenient? It doesn't seem so to me. |

No, our arrangement is admittedly more convenient than most, but when at the same time my friends are finding theirs left in very dodgy places, or catching the drivers walking away having dumped their parcels wherever when they were at home the whole time it does make it seem more like just plain laziness and carelessness than efficiency.
And no I don't expect them to be psychic, I expect them to ring the buzzer to see if we're home, like a reasonable person. |

Oh OP what a joke! Left letterbox?? And then they use a town in another country as part of the proof of the delivery?? Were they in that much of a hurry??!!
Well DHL themselves said they would come back to you on the 3rd January, their explanation would be interesting. I've had one experience with DHL where they left a parcel with a neighbour.... which I hate, even though on their site it said they would leave a card if you're not indoors. |

I can get my money back through chargeback but that's not the point. And actually, I am glibly saying I can get my money back but I don't know that for a fact. Oh well. We'll know in four days! |

placed an order with Amazon today for three items. All three are coming from different couriers. DPD, Hermes and Royal Mail. Wonder what will actually turn up?

Hermes delivery arrived. Guess what? DPD have failed again. Despite me leaving directions and phone number it's gone AWOL again. Claimed to have posted it at 13.04 today. I've watched the tracker this morning and they never got near us. Every single time whether it's at home or to work or click and collect DPD mess it up! What I have noted is that on their map where they show your location it shows us somewhere completely different.

No, not at all. Thing is DPD have delivered here for years with no problems until the last 18 months or so.

No they are not! Seven failed deliveries in a row. Including a supposed click and collect at Halfords. Don't know what's happened to them recently but have gone downhill massively around here at least.

You should consider what factors could be causing your particular difficulties. Have all of your deliveries come from one single (perhaps local) depot? Have you previously been hostile towards one of their delivery drivers who might be seeking retribution? Is there a very similar address to yours at the location shown on the tracker? Something else? I can imagine your frustration but your situation seems to be an isolated case. That so many people (including me) continue to rate DPD so highly suggests that their service hasn't deteriorated widely. |

I've never had that many problems thankfully. Although TNT did put a note through the door saying my parcel had been left with a neighbour. Unfortunately they didn't tell me which neighbour, so it was a faff ringing them to find out exactly what they'd done with it.
I'd agree with DPD being the best. I think it's them where you can actually track your delivery on a map and it gives you an estimate as to when the driver will be with you. In the long run, the free or cheap prices we pay for delivery just aren't sustainable IMO. It's a race to the bottom with quality of service. |
