05-01-2017
Hello and Welcome to Week 5 DISNEY WEEK of Strictly Come Dancing ALL STARS.

Please say hello to our judges:-

East (StrictlyEastend)
John (JohnStannard)
Ross (Monsieur23)
Julie (Julie_Clarkson)

Our first couple tonight are Rachel Stevens and Brendan Cole.
StrictlyEastend
05-01-2017
Rachel and Brendan dance a Samba to “Under The Sea” From The Little Mermaid

Scores:-
East- 8
John- 9
Ross- 7.5
Julie- 8.5

Total = 33/40

Julie's Comments:- That has to be your BEST dance!!!!!*

I think that score is one of their highest. (It also helps that Julie now knows this is Rachel Stevens, not Rachel Riley! )

Up next tonight are Danny Mac and Oti Mabuse. They will dance a Charleston.
StrictlyEastend
05-01-2017
Danny and Oti dance a Charleston to “The Bare Necessities” From The Jungle Book

Scores:-
East- 10
John- 10
Ross- 8
Julie- 10

Total = 38/40

John's Comments:- The dance of the series!

38 is one of the highest scores of the series, not the highest, we have seen 38.5, HOWEVER, this is the first routine of the series to receive 3 tens!

Will Ainsley Harriot and Natalie Lowe receive 10s for their Quickstep?
StrictlyEastend
05-01-2017
Ainsley and Natalie dance a Quickstep to “Prince Ali” From Aladdin

Scores:-
East- 7
John- 6
Ross- 5
Julie- 6.5

Total = 24.5/40

Ross's Comments:- Ainsley, your Ballroom is better than your Latin, no doubt about that, but at speed it all gets a bit untidy no matter what the discipline. I appreciated that you genuinely appeared to be leading Natalie, but your footwork was very, very sloppy, and your shoulders were somewhere approaching the Moon. The performance was fantastic, as it always is, but unfortunately the technique let you down.

A mediocre score for Ainsley but he isn't disappointed.

Our next couple tonight, dancing a Contemporary are Claudia Fragapane and AJ Pritchard.
StrictlyEastend
05-01-2017
Claudia and AJ Contemporary to “Let It Go” From Frozen

Scores:-
East- 10
John- 6
Ross- 9.5
Julie- 8.5

Total = 34/40

East's Comments:- Claudia, each and every week you are amazing but I always find something to critique on, tonight however, I COULD NOT FAULT IT, those lifts were terrific, it was lyrical, romantic, passionate and powerful, YOUR'E BEST DANCE EVER!

A big scoring difference between John and Myself, I GAVE A 10 AS I'D IMAGINE AS A GYMNAST, SHE'D BE GREAT AT CONTEMPORARY, LOTS OF GYMNATICS AND LIFTS ARE ALLOWED IN THIS ROUTINE.

34 is not usually a bad score, but with these celebs and at this stage of the Competition, 34 I believe, will definitely place Claudia in the middle.

Can Ed Balls and Katya Jones receive good scores for their American Smooth? (They don't )
StrictlyEastend
05-01-2017
Ed and Katya dance an American Smooth to “Winnie The Pooh” From Winnie The Pooh

Scores:-
East- 6
John- 2
Ross- 6.5
Julie- 2.5

Total = 17/40

Ross's Comments:- Compared to your last American Smooth, Ed, this was a revelation. You didn't almost kill Katya for a start. While the lifts are still a little inelegant, and your lines out of hold a bit flat, the actual sections of Foxtrot in hold were very nice indeed. An improvement, well done!

A much better score than last week for Ed and Katya but I still think it'll put them down at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Anyway, dancing a Viennese Waltz next are Gethin Jones and Joanne Clifton.
StrictlyEastend
05-01-2017
Gethin and Joanne dance a Viennese Waltz to “The Bells Of Notre Dame” From The Hunchback Of Notredame

Scores:-
East- 8
John- 8
Ross- 8.5
Julie- 8.5

Total = 33/40

East's Comments:- I liked the storytelling of it and it had a lovely feeling to it but to me, this was too similar to an American Smooth Viennese Waltz than the normal Viennese Waltz, too much out of hold, and what is frustrating is that when you are in hold, you are brilliant, I know it's Disney week and I'll let a little bit less content than I'd expect pass by but this was a bit too much out of hold, so I'll knock off a point, and there was an unintentional illegal lift, otherwise A-MAZ-ING!

A good set of scores there for Gethin and Joanne.

How will Jay McGuinness and Chloe Hewitt do when they dance a Charleston?
StrictlyEastend
05-01-2017
Jay and Chloe Charleston to “Dig A Little Deeper” From The Princess And The Frog

Scores:-
East- 9.5
John- 7
Ross- 7.5
Julie- 6.5

Total = 30.5/40

East's Comments:-
That Jay was one of your best performances, there was at one stage, a tiny little bit where you two were out of sync but by golly, that was fantastic!

A very mixed bag of scores there for Jay and Chloe.

How will Alesha Dixon and Neil Jones do when they dance a Salsa?
StrictlyEastend
05-01-2017
Alesha and Neil Salsa to “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” From Lilo and Stitch

Scores:-
East- 9
John- 8.5
Ross- 8.5
Julie- 10

Total = 36/40

John's Comments:- You got into that dance it was great and what more do I want?

Another great set of scores there for Alesha and Neil.

How will Louis Smith and Janette Manrara do in their Paso Doble?
StrictlyEastend
05-01-2017
Louis and Janette Paso Doble to “Savages” From Pocahontas

Scores:-
East- 7.5
John- 7.5
Ross- 6
Julie- 7

Total = 28/40

John's Comments:- This just didn’t seem great to me it looked a bit concentrated and a bit placed, also your thumb was sticking up and you need more drama.

A score of which the audience boos loudly about.

Next up, hoping to make the audience Cheer their Scores, with a Waltz, are Simon Webbe and Oksana Platero.
StrictlyEastend
05-01-2017
Simon and Oksana dance a Waltz to “A Whole New World” From Aladdin

Scores:-
East- 8.5
John- 7.5
Ross- 8
Julie- 7.5

Total = 31.5/40

Julie's Comments:-
That was definitely my favourite of your dances! Well done!

Simon is pleased that he got above 30 but the audience are not happy with that score.

Next up, with their Salsa, are Jill Halfpenny and Gorka Marquez.
StrictlyEastend
05-01-2017
Jill and Gorka Salsa to “I Just Can't Wait To Be King” From The Lion King

Scores:-
East- 9
John- 9.5
Ross- 9
Julie- 7

Total = 34.5/40

Ross's Comments:- Jill, you were the original Queen of Latin, and I'm glad that you don't appear to have worsened over time. Fantastic hip action, great lifts, and those underarm passes were incredible. Ironically, the only thing stopping this from being a 10 for me was the very thing that got you such great marks in Latin in your original series - your posture. In dances like the Cha-Cha-Cha, Paso Doble etc., having a straight back is a positive, but the Salsa's a club dance and I'd prefer it a little more "down 'n dirty", if you know what I mean. Relax a bit more; it was still fantastic, but just not quite perfect.

A strong set of scores again there for Jill and Gorka, will that continue when our Penultimate couple tonight, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Aljaz Skorjanec dance a Foxtrot?
StrictlyEastend
05-01-2017
Sophie and Aljaz dance a Foxtrot to “You've Got A Friend In Me” by Toy Story

Scores:-
East- 10
John- 8
Ross- 10
Julie- 9.5

Total = 37.5/40

Julie's Comments:- That has to be your BEST dance!!!!!*

Another high score for Sophie and Aljaz! Ross, correct me if I'm wrong but I think that is your first 10 this series!

Our Final couple tonight are Caroline Flack and Pasha Kovalev with a Charleston.
StrictlyEastend
05-01-2017
Caroline and Pasha Charleston to “Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious” From Mary Poppins

Scores:-
East- 10
John- 9
Ross- 9
Julie- 10

Total = 38/40

East's Comments:-
What a brilliant Charleston, I loved your Turkish Charleston back in 2014, it is 2017 now, you are doing a Disney Charleston. Loved them both equally, you probably have the best technique for a Charleston I have ever seen on Strictly or on Dancing With The Stars, this was another Show stopper of a dance, a superb end to a brilliant night of dancing, well done.

What a way to end the night, let's have a look at the leaderboard:-
