Eastenders - Do you think we see Charlie Cotton return?
Harlowe

If R&R are to die, I wonder if we will see the reappearance of Charlie to come and get back Matthew as obviously Jack's has no legal right to custody of him really.

There no reason for him to stay away if she dies, he wanted to take Matthew last time.

Thoughts?

Definitely. I think Charlie should definitely return if Ronnie dies. Jack would already have Amy and Ricky - I can't see him wanting to keep Matthew as well, not when he has a dad already. Harsh but true.

Charlie should come back. The hatchet job that Incompetent DTC did on the character was typical of his ill thought out 'producing'.

Hopefully any handover of Matthew will take place off screen. The last thing we need is a tedious custody battle as that would be farcical considering Father Of The Year Jack has kids of his own who he doesn't seem to give two shits about.

Maybe they'll try to go for the angle where we are actually meant to feel sorry for Jack if Matthew gets taken against Jack's wishes.

Does anyone remember when Roxy won custody of Amy years ago and Jack was crying his eyes out as Roxy walked away with Amy a full six footsteps away from Jack's house to her house

I'd like to see him again...either him or Yvonne. Jack has no legal right to him...nor has he got legal custody of his own two.

As much as I would love it I can't see Declan Bennett coming back. Not after the hatchet job DTC done Hope I'm wrong though. By rights Matthew should go and stay with his dad.

I would really like to see Charlie back, not just to collect Matthew but to stay and give Dot some family around her, he was treated very shabbily by Ronnie and Roxy and so was Dot for that matter

Bet Roxy wishes she had ran away with him after all

One thing that really annoys me is how Dot is used as a free babysitter when it suits, If only Dot knew the real reason for Charlie leaving. Especially now as she seems so lonely. Pity it doesn't look like the truth will come out. Would love for Roxy just to go on one huge rant about what Ronnie has done. Seeing the smile get wiped from smug Jack would be glorious

He was a good character until that shit with Roxy. What a shame.

Why build family around Dot only to ruin them so quickly.

I wish he was brilliant and was born in Coventry and is also a brilliant singer songwriter see iTunes Declan Bennett

I would love to see Declan Bennett and Pauline McGlynn come back to claim baby Matthew, if Ronnie dies.

I don't think a custody battle is necessary here, as I could see a heartbroken Jack deciding the boy deserves to be with his father. It would sort of echo when he handed over baby Tommy back to Kat & Alfie. I'm not a huge fan of Jack as a character, but I thought Scott Maslen was excellent in those highly emotive scenes.

It's not as if Jack will be left totally childless, as he will have Amy and Ricky, his own biological children.

I imagine Dot would have to call him to collect Matthew, but her calling Charlie would kind of work against this "Dot is alone" story they're doing so I doubt it.

I think the Dot is alone story has sort of been concluded, with her realising on Christmas Day there were people around her.

She could see Jack struggling and think it best that Charlie come back for his son.

Does Dot know where he is or have contact with him? I can't remember

I always hated that Charlie left Matthew behind and Ronnie got what she wanted after she treated him badly. I was hoping he and the baby would leave and not come back so I'd like to see him get custody of his son he deserves him.

Same. Ronnie had so much chemistry with Charlie too, far more than ever with Jack. Potential to go for years. It's a shame they killed it with that left-field Roxy fling.
