So you would leave your remaining son to grieve for the loss of both his brother and his mother?
That's not really what I meant. I should have worded it better.

If either of my 2 sons passed away, I wouldn't want to live.

I'm saying, I think the shock was too much for her.
You do indeed feel that way. and it takes a long, very long time to pass, its one you never really manage to put behind you,

In this case it was just too much for Debbie to handle, very sad story indeed. Debbie was a wonderful actress

This is just beyond sad... really hoped it wasn't this serious and she was gonna pull through.

No, you did fine. You really don't owe someone on a message board anything further. Your meaning was clear and only someone who's never dealt with loss wouldn't understand the complex and conflicting emotions that come with it.

Thank you so much. xx

I, (like many others) have been through great loss. It was a 'knee jerk reaction'.

It's just been a rotten, sad year.

Totally agree with this. You dont owe anyone an explanation. Loss is crushing and the toughest thing anyone will ever have to deal with in life. Especially the loss of someone you love and cannot imagine your life without. You never get over it, you just live with it.

RIP

One of the last true old school Hollywood greats.

I'll always cherish her character on Will & Grace.

Debbie Reynolds dying at 84 isn't itself a shock, I'm sure both Carrie and Todd were expecting say goodbye to her at some point in the near future.

But Carrie dying after just turning 60 was way too soon and so that unexpected loss has undoubtedly accelerated Debbie's demise, there were rumours she wasn't well herself recently, so very shocking.

If you ever see an interview with Debbie Reynolds you'll see how much she was just like Carrie, one of the wittiest and funniest 80+ year olds I've ever seen. Here's her on 'The View' a few years back.

I am absolutely GUTTED for Billie Lourd in particular.

It's bad enough losing your mom but losing your mom and then your grandma (who you lived next to your entire life) back-to-back?! Heartbraking.

I really hope Billie comes out of this strong.

But RIP to both Debbie and Carrie, at least both of them are no doubt together wherever they are now.

What a horrible time for the family. To lose 1 family member is bad enough, but to lose another just 1 day later....that is just too much.

I had a horrible feeling this might happen. I mainly know Debbie Reynolds from Will and Grace. She always stole the show when she appeared. I remember her being interviewed on The One Show and she just seemed so lovely. Very, very sad, even if not totally unexpected.

Gosh that is heartbreaking. The shock of Carries death must have been too much for her. Very sad.

I really feel sorry for Billie, she's lost both mother and grandmother in a matter of days.

Heartbreaking for the family - my heart goes out to them. Debbie was one of the last of the greats of the golden age of Hollywood - to think she was only 19 when she made Singin' in the Rain.

Bought that for my girlfriend for Christmas because she's never seen it and wanted to after seeing Ore and Joanne dancing to it on SCD.

For those of us of a certain age she was a true Hollywood legend , I loved her films. She was pure showbiz glamour , also a great philanthropist and business woman.
I cannot imagine how heartbroken she was at the death of Carrie. So sad.

Well if there is an afterlife Debbie was never gonna let Carrie have all the fun without her.

I can imagine Carrie on a cloud enjoying a glass of wine with Bowie and George Micheal sighing 'really Mother?' as a glammed up Debbie grandly enters the pearly gates.
