AND 2016 still has not including today 3 more days to run. I wonder which celebrity will be next to leave us.
Someone has launched a GoFundMe page to ensure 94 year old Betty White doesn't fall victim to the "curse of 2016".

Just SO sad.

Apparently she collapsed at her son's home where they were discussing funeral arrangements. He said her last words were that she would like to be with Carrie.

Heartbreaking.

RIP Debbie and Carrie.

Bought that for my girlfriend for Christmas because she's never seen it and wanted to after seeing Ore and Joanne dancing to it on SCD.
Your girlfriend is in for a treat

Gosh that is heartbreaking. The shock of Carries death must have been too much for her. Very sad.
Apparently it could easily be brought on by a shock

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-38455777

Some people talk about "broken heart syndrome", known more formally as stress cardiomyopathy or takotsubo cardiomyopathy. According to the British Heart Foundation, it is a "temporary condition where your heart muscle becomes suddenly weakened or stunned. The left ventricle, one of the heart's chambers, changes shape."

It can be brought on by a shock. "About three quarters of people diagnosed with takotsubo cardiomyopathy have experienced significant emotional or physical stress prior to becoming unwell," the charity says.

This stress might be bereavement but it could be a shock of another kind

Didn't know her or the daughter that well but I hope they RIP. Thoughts are with the family.

Also word of warning, take no notice of Hopkins tweets about this.

Immediately rushed to Anthony Hopkins' twitter thinking my favourite actor had let slip some serious faux pas or something, then I remembered that vile woman exists

I take quite a sadistic pleasure in knowing that when that vile troll snuffs it, nobody will give a single ****.

Very sad Debbie died. Such a tragedy for all their family. Two deaths on consecutive days.

Well if there is an afterlife Debbie was never gonna let Carrie have all the fun without her.

I can imagine Carrie on a cloud enjoying a glass of wine with Bowie and George Micheal sighing 'really Mother?' as a glammed up Debbie grandly enters the pearly gates.
That's a really lovely image.

Tragic thing to happen and my thoughts really are with Bikke, Todd and his children. The grief and bewilderment at losing two close family members within a couple of days by different causes (unlike say a car accident which woukd be horrific enough) is almost unimaginable.

This is so sad.

Debbie was proper old school Hollywood. A very dignified lady, with high morals. I remember reading her autobiography (1988 book, not the newer one) where she had to endure that awful time when her husband Eddie Fisher had a very public affair with Elizabeth Taylor. Not once did Debbie lower herself to their standards. She always carried herself with such composure. A very classy lady.

Rest in peace Debbie.

I didn't realise they were so close but they were. They lived next to each other. Carrie did a TV interview where she literally walks across to her Mums house to take her some food. They were so alike. Even watching Debbie interviews you can see where Carrie got so much. Especially her sense of humour.

I like the idea of a joint funeral. I think it would be fitting and they'd have liked that.

Carrie grew up in utter admiration of her mother. Her talent her intelligence and her humour, she took years and years to reconcile herself to her mums shocking bad choices in men and being constantly sidelined by them . Carrie for years was an "also ran " as Debbie pursued destructive relationships. I'm so pleased that they resolved all that a few years ago and formed a great relationship.

They seemed to be close and Debbie herself said she made bad choices with men.
I am a huge fan of Postcards From The Edge.

And Katie Hopkins came out with this:

I hope after Debbie Reynolds died, Katie Hopkins feels some kind of shame.

Carries daughter is only 24 and is suddenly being followed by paparazzi, something Carrie has protected her from.

That's horrible. You'd have hoped they'd show some decency and empathy in these circumstances and leave her be but.....

My feeling is that Hopkins is pathologically incapable of shame.

If you ever see an interview with Debbie Reynolds you'll see how much she was just like Carrie, one of the wittiest and funniest 80+ year olds I've ever seen. Here's her on 'The View' a few years back.

The quote below what Shirley Maclaine's character says to her daughter in Postcards from the Edge seems very poignant now.
Ever since you were a little girl, I had this feeling that I'd lose you. That you'd be taken from me early.

Well way to rain on my parade!

There's a really cute Oprah interview from a couple of years back with them both. It was really interesting to see how close they were but also how distant in other regards. That they were two people who for various reasons didn't totally understand each other, probably like most parent and child due to the generational differences but also the added craziness of Debbie's Hollywood life and Carrie's drugs and mental health issues. However within this they had eventually found a place of happiness in their relationship.

The part that was a bit goose-pimply was something Debbie said. Even though Carrie had come to terms with her 'issues' and treating and controlling and coping with them, Debbie's concern as her mother still was very apparent. And she made a very poignant comment about who would protect Carrie when she's gone. In a bittersweet kind of way she passed without that worry, protecting Carrie to the end. And although some of us might not believe in the afterlife Debbie was a Christian who did.
