Not my words but the words of experts! What are you going to do about it?!

Most people in this country ARE overweight and, to me, the reason why is obvious:

As a society we seem to eat and drink for 'emotional' reasons and 'social' reasons as opposed to needs.

I'm the only person I know who eats purely for health and survival.

Only eat when you need food and try to pick a food suitable for your needs.

If you want to cheer your spirits, do something you enjoy doing instead of eating a chocolate bar or piece of cake. It's not hard to do, but it's changes like this which will make all the difference.

Back on the the diet from the 2nd of January. It will be well worth it come the warmer months.

No diet for me.

I always watch what I eat anyway (everything in moderation) and I have lost a lot of weight recently so really need a solid stone (or more) back on if anything.

So I can now have a good guilt free polish of my halo (in private of course).

Funny how the middle aged love to label the young 'generation snowflake', and say how they can't take honest feedback, etc. But give them critical feedback and they immediately go into a near hysterical hissy fit of denial. As witnessed by the responses so far on this thread.

Yes the UK is a nation of aesthetically unpleasing, unhealthy fat blobs. The reasons for this are complex and not entirely, on an individual level, of our own making. But the reality is undeniable, except to those in denial that is.

Well, you assume the people in this thread are in denial. They could of course be a perfectly healthy weight and simply pouring scorn on those who aren't, which does of course include, generation snowflake, many of whom are also overweight and inactive, what with facebook and twitter and stuff with vampires in it that they can sit around watching marathon boxset viewings of.

It is very easy for the government and medical "profession" to claim the majority of 40 - 60 year olds drink more than the government's recommended weekly alcohol limits for the simple reason those limits are set laughably low and are unjustified.

The Spectator magazine ran an article on how the new limits were set, and who were behind setting such low limits.

No wonder Britain’s alcohol guidelines are so extreme – just look at who drafted them

They then did a follow-up article.

The great alcohol cover-up: how public health hid the truth about drinking

What is more remarkable is that not a single health "professional" has publically questioned the levels recommended by the Chief Medical Officer, Sally Davies, or the incrediblly biased, agenda-driven, and un-scienfific way theose figures were settled upon.

As it says in their second article...

Quote:
“The day after Sally Davies released her report, the US National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism announced the results of its review of alcohol guidelines and maintained the recommendation for men of up to 25 units per week.”

Are these the same "experts" who told us that fat was bad and carbs were good ?
Only since then the population seems to have exploded.

People should stop listening to experts as its very bad for your health

Have posts been removed? Only I cannot see any "near hysterical hissy fit" on this thread.

If the experts want to come and do my full time job, and do all my housework and life admin then I will have all the time and will in the world to cook nice healthy meals.

Maybe they could look at the state of personal finances in the UK, that might give a clue as to why people are drinking too much?

Unfortunately residents of this country are being pushed to breaking point, and our health is giving way as a result.

When both parents have to work just to keep afloat and have to pay someone else to look after their child who pays someone else to look after their child who pays someone else to look after their child etc.. You know the system is broken.

Ive noticed the big push to get people to accept that retirement is a very bad idea.

I've nver worked out how they can claim people are drinking too much when alcohol sales in this country have been falling year-by-year every year for the last 10 years.

But then again, as I've shown above, the reason they can claim that is by lowering the recommended level to automatically include 2 million moderate drinkers to suit their anti-alcohol agenda.

It's not the weight that's the problem, it's the lifestyle that leads to the weight. You can be overweight and still healthy, just as you can be a 'healthy' weight and unhealthy. We need to stop obsessing over numbers on a scale and incentivise people to move more and eat colourful things that they cook themselves.

And really, cooking a meal takes, on average, about 20-30 minutes, and you can get away with less with good prep. How long do you sit in front of the telly in the evening, or faff about in the morning? Could some of that time be shifted into time spent in the kitchen?

It's about priorities. You have time for the things you want to do, and less time for stuff you're not really that interested in. If you don't want to make time for cooking or being active, at least admit that's what it is. We all have the same amount of hours in the day, the difference between those who have time to cook and exercise is that they make the time - it does then mean that they have less time for something else.
