You're joking.
It wouldn't be the same without him.

I wonder why Ranking Roger has never been a guest on the Jonathan Woss show?
Fnar, fnar
Nor the author Ian Rankin apparently

Really enjoyed those two episodes. I was doing pretty well on answering the questions on both shows, but ended up doubting myself with the Nikita/1984 answer?

Anyway, yes to a series return, however, rather than sticking to the 80's, with 80's guests, a different decade each episode, with appropriate guests. Although, my musical knowledge will lessen somewhere around 1996!

A few references to Wham, George Michael and Rick Parfitt in the second episode and finishing with Prince, which added a bit of poignancy

Precisely. Mike Read still being in place is a big part of why the revival was so effective - for once in a revived show, they changed very little. We don't want a "modern" host like Rylan Clark, Keith Lemon or Vernon Kay...

Interesting to find out that the series has made a few comebacks in the not too distant past.

I thought he both looked good (he's 69 ffs) and presented well.

I hope I look as like my former self and am as slickly compos mentis in 25 years.

Mike Read is probably a decade or so older than many of those former pop stars taking part and i think it shows. His face has aged quite considerably and his voice is a little deeper. He certainly seems to have changed from the guy we see presenting on those BBC4 Top Of The Pops repeats, although i am sure we all have changed to some degree. Mike's doing a decent job of presenting, and i like the fact that he doesn't try to act wacky or zany, which a lot of the modern presenters tend to do. He doesn't try to steal the limelight which is something i appreciate. I am not sure Mike is especially knowledgeable, mind, because he didn't pick up on the Elton John/ "Nikita" mistake, and Irena Cara isn't the name of the artist who had the number one hit with "Fame". What i would like, perhaps, is a little tighter editing, and the show taking a slightly more serious view of the competition. These shows have been a delight to watch, but perhaps mainly because they have been good to reminisce with some old familiar faces. However, that won't be the novelty it is now if the show did have a longer run. Moving forward if the show was to continue i think it would be great to keep the humour and good spirits, while slightly making the competition appear more important with a little more structure (including of course more thorough research). Not that the guests have anything really to lose either way.

EXACTLY. EXACTLY.
E X A C T L Y.

This is one reason why Pop Quiz is far superior to Never Mind The Buzzcocks. It just has a more adult feel to it.
I can imagine the people who prefer NMTB are the sort of people who like childish humour and have attention spans of about five minutes.

Yes I doubted my memory on that question too, it was a tricky one.

I would prefer that any series sticks to the 80s with perhaps the 70s thrown in, certainly no later than mid to late 80s.

These 2 episodes were very near perfect, to mess with it would be a bad thing and I would lose interest if they dared to wander into the 90s.
