It's reported Victoria Beckham the husband of football legend David Beckham will receive an OBE in the New Years honours. This for work in Fashion and Charity. Personally I havnt seen her do charity work where sometimes the media televise it. I dont know where she sells her clothes. Obviously someone has recognised this and put in a request for her to be honored.

I know women's rights has come a long way but I didn't know they got to be called 'husbands' now.

Services to fashion in pulling a long con that she is actually a designer? I wish they hadn't mentioned fashion - I have no doubt about the charity work. Even though I can't actually name a single charity she's involved with but that's just a lack of paying attention on my part. I think this is a sop to stop people clamouring for a knighthood for Becks. Can you imagine her as Lady Beckham (and of course the tabloids would incorrectly refer to her forevermore as Lady Victoria - urgh)?

There are two 'husbands' or 'wives' in gay marriage, it's only a matter of time before this anti-hetero wrong is righted, surely?..

I can't believe she is getting an OBE. She was probably the least talented of the Spice Girls , and that's saying something. Her solo career was dire. She is a fashion designer, but who actually buys or likes her clothes? Her charity career has not made much of an impression. It seems that without her husband, she would be a nobody. I remember a debate a year or so ago that the honours system was getting 'dumbed down' , and Posh Spice getting an OBE seems to epitomise this. Next it will be the cast of TOWIE getting medals for awards to entertainment .

Its odd she is getting one before Geri who actually does do charity work as she is a UN ambassador. Like everyone else I've not seen Victoria do charity work so it must be all off radar.

Congrats to her tho, no point in being bitter over it I guess.

Such bad form, the honours aren't announced until New Years Day and no one ever leaks the news.
Hope they renege the award and give it to a deserving recipient.#anyoneelse

Victoria Beckham OBE? Her music career was laughable and so is her fashion career. Somebody at the Cabinet Office must have a sense of humour...

All these labels mean nothing.

The entire honour system is a corrupt rich man's club.

Most celebrities are talentless regular Joes thrown into the limelight by corporations. They got lucky. It's only people's love of gossip, snobbery and a media that's hungry for some familiar people to write about that's elevated these regular Joes to the top of the social ladder. While it's still an achievement to become rich and famous, that in itself is reward enough in my opinion. The hard workers in the background that usually do all the dirty work for these celebrities don't get a fraction of the credit they deserve.

The real heroes in my opinion are the charity givers, the carers, the nurses earning minimum wage, who go the extra mile and don't ask for anything in return, who give up their free time to help people. The kindest souls are usually the quietest and the poorest and nearly always go unnoticed.

A respectable honour system would hunt good people out and reward them.

To be fair, a lot of ordinary people are given honours - it's just the media who make a big deal of the celebs. But if this is the calibre of people now being given honours...time for a major overhaul.

You. Must. Be. ****ing. Joking.

Mind you, it might be worth it to see if it would make her crack a smile on that sour face.

She's more deserving of one of these baubles than some others.

Bloody hell! Philip Greed has a Knighthood - as far as I know VB hasn't decimated anyone's pension fund!

I'm pretty certain the committee which considers suggestions for the lower honours etc goes into some detail about whether it is deserved or not. There could well be a lot of charity work we don't hear about simply because she doesn't like to publicise it. I must say I've always like Becks and think he gets a raw deal e.g. 'thick'. He doesn't strike me as 'thick' when I have heard him speak.

They give these titles out to any celeb these days, it's not even a reward.

If it wasn't a joke before then it was after James Corden got one.

If you look at what qualifies somebody to receive these things that you will see that literally anybody can get one.
