Don't be so daft; or did I miss the news reports of the IDS sweeping across Christchurch...:

Are you completely literal

Perhaps I shall henceforth call you "Drax the Destroyer"...

John Kerry has spoken more sense about Israel in the last couple of days then during his entire political career.

Be interesting where this sudden change of tact on Israel's settlements has come from - I suspect its from Obama, who clearly has got incredibly frustrated with the behaviour of the current Israeli regime, who seem to be sticking two fingers up at any attempt to bring in a 2 state solution.

and if your statement is true.... who has been keeping him in check up to now?

and if your statement is false.... why has he suddenly turned rogue?

either way, interesting times ahead.

Be nice then, if Obama had sufficient [golf] balls to open this mouth and say this for himself.... still, those chat-shows and after-dinner speaking appointments won't organise themselves now will they.

Have to say, just love the way you try to give the impression that Palestine and Hamas are the ones positively salivating for a 2-state solution and it's only sulky old Israel who isn't playing ball....

But completely pointless, seeing as he will be out of a job in about two weeks or so.

Simply no need for such an ego driven press conference.

I think Kerry may well be right it was just the wrong time in his tenure to say it.

Not my fault that your handler is sounding increasingly deranged. He did declare war on NZ.

When I read this bit of that phone call ...

"If you continue to promote this resolution from our point of view it will be a declaration of war. It will rupture the relations and there will be consequences."

... I did wonder if he'd lost the plot, tbh.

I'm sure what we are seeing now is what they really feel, but they never had the courage to do a thing about it while in power. It's appalling behaviour from an outgoing administration. Goodbye one of the worst presidents in American history supported by some of the worst people in American politics for 8 years. I'm no trump fan, but good riddance to bad filth in a couple of weeks.

But why wait until he is totally powerless to say it?

Clears his conscious without needing to actually do anything? He'll have a peaceful retirement, I guess.

Possibly because he didn't want to antagonise pro-Israel factions while still in government?

But they are shooting rockets at Israel, shooting israelis, knifing them, setting fire to large areas of israel , and digging attack tunnels under them. No sane Israeli leader is going to give those people, or a Palestinian leader who can't control them, a state of their own. The Palestinians have to abandon their futile struggle to go back to 1947 first , and then form a Palestinian government ,that can kill, or lock up, its own terrorists, so Israel doesn't have to.

Exactly my point. He did nothing when he had power, now he tries to take the moral high ground, while knowing nothing he says will have any influence on anything.

I'd have had more respect for him if he'd done nothing for a few more weeks, now he just looks like a pompous twit.

He's writing his own version of history- to show how his brilliant plan didn't happen - after he wasted so much time on it. More necessary, as he now has no successes elsewhere ,and a debacle in Syria,

If you wade through his speech, https://www.state.gov/secretary/rema.../12/266119.htm its typical diplomatic speak of the nonsense variety. Its just full of contradictions, that can't be resolved, and would require decisions that would leave Israel insecure, and any Palestinian leader, who signed it, assassinated for betraying Palestine. Its no wonder neither side was very interested in it.

It includes - Landswaps that exchange parts of israel for areas of the West Bank - but what happens when Israeli Arabs, or Israelis , refuse to become part of Palestine? East Jerusalem in Palestine - but shared with israel. Israel with a right ot respond to attacks from Palestine, itself - but Palestinian sovereignty established. Controls over Palestine's borders - although the Israelis have no reaon to trust anyone providing the control , and the Palestinians have a hostile relationship with both Egypt and Jordan. A contigous, united, Palestinian state - but with Gaza separated by miles of Israel , and governed by a hostile anti-Israel group - that doesn't accept PLO leadership. its a complete nonsense.

Your neo con view of the world has been a failure over the last 15 years - Iraq, Libya, Syria, Palestine. This ideology has just piled misery on to misery in the Middle East and allowed the jihadists to flourish.

True. Israel's cosying up to Sunni SA isn't helping either.

No they both go hand in hand, Hamas should stop pursuing an armed response and Israel should stop the settlement building. Do that then you can get them to the table to talk, although I suspect Israel would never join the table with Hamas willingly, they would have to be strong armed into it.
