I know it's unlucky but we always take ours down early. They go up on or around the 5th December and by Boxing Day I'm bored of them. I can't clean properly and I want to get normality back.

We ended up taking the inside ones down today and it was marvellous to dust and clean properly. The outside lights are still on, and will probably stay put until the weekend.

The ward 's are still up, but I had 4 hours leave from hospital today, went home and took all mine down. Didn't get to see them before Christmas anyway, so new start, new beginnings.

The tree is coming down New Years Day. It is getting planted in the garden.

The decorations are, and the cards are also cleared. But I've left the tree up until New Year's Day, cos the lights look nice when the main light is switched off.

Has it got roots? Most of them are chopped off causing the tree to die, regardless.

Wrong way round. It's leaving them up after 12th Night that's supposed to bring bad luck. You can take them down any time before then.

It's the festive season until New Year's Day in my house, so they'll all be coming down on Sunday.

I'll take mine down on Monday when Jr's at respite, she'd go mad if I took them down sooner!

I'm genuinely surprised that people would have taken their decorations down already. I guess they set their own timeframe (which is fine - just not something we have ever done in my family).

I don't really get the put my xmas decorations up nearly a month before xmas and take them down during xmas brigade.

Maybe if they were put up at the right time folk wouldn't be so sick of looking at them in the middle of the xmas holiday!

Why then put them up as early as the 5th ? I put my decorations up about the 18th December for the very reasons you've stated - I'd be bored of seeing them come Christmas if they'd been up any earlier, and the dust gathering on surfaces strewn with cards and stuff is annoying. It would drive me mad to see a tree up for over a month like some people have. My decorations will all be away by 1st January - new year, clean and tidy

My husband is a big kid and has days off in the week while I'm working. He loves Christmas and I get home from work early December to find the house/ garden decorated. There's no stopping him. Luckily, like me once Christmas is over we like to take them down and look forward to the new year with clean surfaces

All down now, floor hoovered and house tidy. I was feeling really flat yesterday but now Christmas is all packed away it's time to start thinking ahead, making plans and looking forward.

I just have to take the wreath off the door. I always like the decorations down by the time I go back to work so I tend to take them down before 12th night. Next year I might take my holiday after Christmas instead of before. Then they can stay up until 12th night.

Um, you could always put them up a day or so before the 25th, then you wouldn't be "bored" with them halfway through Christmas. Or is that just too obvious?
