Hi everyone I have imo a problem my CD player plays the first CD ok but any CD,s after I get no disc sign. I have then to wait about 10 minutes before it will play another CD. Also if the volume is above half way the CD will get stuck on one word and if I press next track it may do the same thing. Even on brand new CDs
Anyone got any knowledge on lasers or circuits etc thanks in advance

Hi Zoepaulpenny Have you tried a CD Cleaner Disc in the Unit. It could be a simple build up of Dust on the Lens, You can Buy these in most Pound Shops, So no big cash outlay if that does not work.

Whilst a laser issue can't be ruled out the more normal symptoms of a dirty or failing laser are skipping while playing or a total failure to read the disk. It is not usual that a dirty/failing laser would work with the first disk then not let you play any other disk for several minutes.

The volume issue is very odd. The 'next track' problem could be linked to problems reading the disk. It certainly won't do any harm giving the laser a clean. Won't help if the laser is simply getting old and the power output is dropping off though. Not convinced it will have any effect on this problem though.

I'm more inclined to believe it is a fault in the electronics which may well be terminal. Unless it's some exotic ultra high end system probably not worth trying to repair it.

How old is your CD player? Could be the laser is just knackered now and you need another. Not worth having a new laser fitted really. I had awful trouble with one. Kept saying no disc and would play short discs perfectly but stop half way through on long 70 odd minute discs. Just bought another in the end as it was driving me mad.

Yep driving me nuts as well I admit it's a good decade old. Only kept it because it has a tape deck and me being old school have a collection of tapes. Is there any new player in PC world that plays tapes? Thought not lol
