I think if Phil survived snd gets a new liver it would send a dangerous message to the youth watching the show that you can wreck your body you'll get a new liver on the nhs.. Like it or not soaps are role models and are powerful.

What says you?

alcoholics will drink, no matter what people tell them about health, or what they see on a tv show.

I agree. Anyway we have Paul Gascoigne in the papers frequently enough showing what alcoholism can lead to. Anyone thinking about their alcohol consumption is far more likely to look at his example than a fictional character in a soap opera.

I want Phil to recover but I do hope that the scriptwriters to remember that he can no longer behave the way he used to.

I agree. Plus, everyone knows about the dangers of drinking, smoking, taking drugs, etc. It's taught in school, there's loads of health campaigns out there and we have the internet. No one is ignorant to what can happen, people just either don't take it seriously enough or they get to the point where they don't care.

On another note, with Phil pretty much being at the brink of death before receiving his transplant, should we expect him to have any lasting health issues from the extent of the damage?
