Just thought I would start this thread as the old one has vanished. Will be interesting to hear how things go from next week. So far no new announcements on air and the websites are still showing the old radio shows.

I've heard a few trailers for ''Wake up to Wayne'' on Radio Norwich, but no mention on the Beach. I wonder if Kate McCabe may have a role on the breakfast show in the new year as she covered Breakfast for a few weeks recently and has just set up a Facebook page to promote her radio work.

I notice that Chris Marston has been absent for a long time now and understand that he has an off air promotional role now.

I'm intrigued to see how it will all work. Will we still get local travel on each of the station's or will everything be regional now?

Is Chris Marston still with Anglian Radio? He pretty much disappeared the minute Rob Chandler left...

Personally, I think the on air changes will result in an improved listen. Wayne Bavin in particular is really excellent and the brilliant Tim Lindon is going to be on drive which is great news.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Rob Chandler on BBC Radio Suffolk soon.

If Kate Mcabe is on breakfast it will be a massive turn off for me. She is awful. Her favourite Quote after nearly every song is I love that song lol

It seems only some changes started today, Dom was on Ipswich Breakfast but The Beach and North Norfolk seemed to have local daytime shows still.

I listened to NNR and Town for a while, it was liner card radio at its worse, and despite it being an old school anthems hour I had to turn off...Hope once it all becomes two stations they are allowed to inject a bit of fun in it.

They seem to be follwing the SGR model of the late 90s, when perhaps they need to go down the early 90s style or Essex FM in the 90s etc make it worth listening to.

I agree, NNR has always been particularly dire in terms of presentation.

I do genuinely think the networking will improve things in terms of the quality of presentation, although some the music scheduled on these stations is utterly bizarre at the moment.

Will there still be some shows networked across all five stations? It seems quite a messy arrangement to be honest!

I was flicking around the stations this afternoon and noticed that the Drive shows on Town and Dream were still separate, with different presenters. I know the Breakfast show is now being shared, so I wonder when the rest will follow?

I tuned into Town today for the first time in a very long time. Couldn't believe how awful it sounds, music all over the place and presentation well the less said the better, new breakfast guy, well.....

Yes there are some strange decisions being made.

This is presumably being done to save money yet both the Norwich and Ipswich stations will have very competent presenters, well-known in their respective markets (Paul Morris & Chris Marston) as off-air Programme Managers. Why?

Radio Norwich, which should be the flagship of the group, should be grasping the opportunity presented by Heart's worst ever Rajar. Yet it's ditching its entire daytime line-up. Crazy.

It all feels very desperate to me. Maybe Celador are closing in.

My mistake, the breakfast shows are still totally separate on Dream and Town. Presumably Dom has moved over early to do a week of ''welcome to the new show'' with plenty of local references thrown in for good measure?

Wayne may be a good presenter but Rob Chandler is one hell of an act to follow. There was a very large bring back Rob Chandler campaign on Facebook with a few thousand signed up within a few days before it mysteriously disappeared without trace.

As stated above Heart listeners are in decline and Norwich were at last getting good ratings yet Anglian Radio have decided on a full scale cull of all the daily Norwich presenters. This just doesn't make any commercial sense whatsoever. I agree Kate McCabe is awful when she was on breakfast I switched off and I have similarly stopped listening to drive as her presentation is most annoying.

It will be interesting how they deal with local traffic problems after 8th January. At the moment they do a good job of focusing on problems in the Norwich area but I am not sure as a Norwich listener I want to hear about a hold up at Cromer or Fakenham and vice versa for North Norfolk radio listeners.

The whole thing is radio suicide it would have made more sense to have kept separate Breakfast and Drive but combined daytime from 10am to 3pm across the stations.

Looks like they've got rid of the people that they could easily and cheaply (presumably freelancers), or people who haven't been there a long time, and kept either the cheapest (in terms of salary), or those who have been employed for a long time, and would cost too much in redundancy money.

The whole thing looks and sounds like it's being done on a shoe string, and in the cheapest way possible. Such a shame.

Give it six months and they'll all be rebranded to one single brand.

And even more bizarrely I'm led to believe they're keeping the North Norfolk building for disaster recovery purposes, but it won't be used day to day.

Why? Surely if Norwich is forced out of action they could decamp to Ipswich or vice versa.

So given that Dream has already colocated with Town, the only building they're actually vacating is Lowestoft. Which, without wishing to be unkind to Lowestoft, won't save them much .....

.
Ian MacNichol who's a director of Stody Estate was previously on the board of NN Radio so perhaps its on cheap terms/long lease etc?

Amara. I never Rated Rob Chandler as he was so up his own a""# similar to Tom Kay and look where that got him. For travel I would assume there will be opt outs so where ever your listening the travel will be read out for yor particular area therefore still making the station sound Local.

If it is a case of saving money, why on earth are the PCs or whatever the current job title is not doing an on air shift? Seems like this is all being done very fast with very little actual thought, would have been an ideal time for a complete rebrand. I take it there will be loads of smart networking with mainly recorded links as the stations are going to be kept as separate operations despite sharing output.

You may not like Rob but he was well liked and is the reason why Heart is losing listeners and Norwich has gained. Tom Kay quit radio and moved to production work.

I was not aware that the Lowestoft base is being shut then or mothballed ? I hope that the on air presenation will improve with the join up, it really does sound awful and has for a very long time - along with the adverts.

Music is ok yet by the end of the week the whole sound of the output is depressing

The imaging dosnt help its just various length beds with the individual station name sung at the end really dire. The whole output other than breakfast is very dull.
