That was rather a bizarre episode and surprise surprise Eva escaped
How did the Osbornes just let her walk out the door.

Jack storyline has so many holes. Now I only care about Esther being fine.

OMG the hypocrisy of Darren.

It was only a few months ago Darren and Nancy buried a body and planted evidence on sienna so she could take the fall.

And Billy fathered Eva. Isn't that meant to make her 45 or something? Mind boggles
Eva probably bathes in pickled onions. A great preservative. Makes her look 20 years younger!!!

No Eva is only supposed to be in her early 30s, Billy was a career criminal he was in and out of prison. Eva blames Jack for him turning out that way, but going from the flash backs he probably would of ended up in prison anyway.

So let's get this straight, the Osbornes are ostracising Jack because:

- He was bullied/threatened into delivering the finishing blow to someone his brother had already seriously injured (who might have died from those injuries anyway)
- The victim, who was Jack's age or older, was a "little boy"
- Jack tried to protect them all by taking them out of Hollyoaks
- And Esther got shot, even though it's Eva who had the gun, and fired it when Darren tackled her to the ground.

Great ...

Well that episode was a big build up to nothing really. I will give my thoughts in sections:

1) Esther will be ok, they won't kill her off like this if they even ever kill her off (we really should have seen it coming when she was telling Kim that nothing would split them up in the alleyway)

2) The reveal wasn't done how I had imagined it, the flashbacks were handled in a very weird way for me. I didn't like how they kept jumping back and fourth continually

3) It would have been better if it had turned out one of the twins did go down for breaking and entering in a mirror image of Jack and his brother after they beat Harry up but NO we can't have that

4) The scenes with Ste in the pub with Mercedes and Goldie was painstakingly awful, especially with him licking the packets of pork scratchings and on that point, what pub runs out of them on New Years Eve?

5) I know OB said he wouldn't tell Grace about Eva because Jack didn't want him to but he really should have and I don't understand why he didn't

6) How unsurprising was it that Tom, Charlie and the rest of the kids didn't turn up and did NOBODY tell them about Esther being in hospital? Surely while they were waiting for news, they could have got them to the hospital?

7) Goldie was the one that filmed Ryan and Mercedes together? I didn't see that coming NOT, talk about obvious

8) Why doesn't Ryan just tell Amy? As it's obvious it WILL come out at some point? When Amy tries to become good friends with Mercedes more than likely

9) Eva is going to go on the run with Liam? Does that mean the pair of them will be gone? I hope so!

10) How is Jack admitting to the murder (I still doubt if he actually killed the boy and that Billy probably did kill him in the first place) going to solve anything now?

I'm really not being optimistic regarding Esther. Honestly, the writers haven't seemed to know what to do with her since the suicide attempt, and her death would only maximise the drama with Grace wanting Eva dead and the Osbornes creating a larger rift with Jack. I hope I'm wrong, but it's not looking good

Poor Jack, his whole family has turned against him for one kick that he was forced to do

So bloody annoying. Only managed to see half the episode because my E4+1 decided to die. Not sure what I really think of it; though a few observations to make.

Firstly the Osbornes. I'm just not sure two months of them Missing has paid off well. I would rather spend some time seeing Nancys health deteriorate. Seeing Darren being a brother to Freddie. I just think it's well and truly sacrificed nine characters with better stories for a really lame one.

I think this could be it for Esther. She hasn't really done anything in ages. They don't seem invested in her character at all and I'm not sure what purpose she is really serving- however I also feel the same about Kim right now. The characters all feel like they need more purpose and interaction and this storyline has really not helped that.

I'm quite enjoying Ryan and Amy. I think Duncan James has potential. The problem is the characters they are writing him with are so tiresome. Ste. Goldie. All just a massive waste of time.

In some ways I'm hoping the foreshadowing of the brothers might mean that Prince and Hunter are going to hill Harry- though I'm not convinced. Hollyoaks is anything but brace these days.

I also think the direction is wrong for Liam. Again so much storyline potential but none of it is coming to fruition. Eva is a waste of time. It seems like when the show picks up they manage to bring it down again.

Still be interesting to see what 2017 brings- tough I had hoped we would be rid of Cameron by now too and again the Louis twist is potentially ruining good characters again.

Is anyone planning to run the favourite character competition this year. I'm really intrigued to see the results with all the new additions and certainly wouldn't mind doing it with someone if they want some help?

I've taken it over after yohinnchild asked me to at the end of the 2016 competition. Will begin in the New Year

Also, why is it always Esther in the firing line? Lindsey tried to kill her at least three times
I know, it's ridiculous at this stage isn't it. the producers need to leave her alone!

Hiya my lovelies

I'm kinda watching but am finding the Jack explanation lame. Sorry but it was Billy's fault from what I see & how does Jack know his one kick killed the boy when he was already lying on the ground thanks to Billy??
Hiya madness.
This story has been a waste of time.

Does anyone know the name of the actor who played young Jack? I swear I've seen him before.
Probably someone from scotish waterloo road?

I've long given up trying to figure out this show. It's just jumbled together with no thought put into it what soever.

Hiya Ace!!

Totally!! HO hyped it up & I feel it's all a bit of a damp squid. I don't think the wrong brother went to prison for it at all. That boy died thanks to Billy & was already lying on the ground then Billy bullied Jack to kick the boy (which he did, but only the once) whose to say Jack killed him? The writings been awful on it IMO, loads of plot holes & not making sense again. The biggest mystery in the whole thing for me is the hook up between Eva & 'thick' Liam.

Well that was absolute rubbish. I was at least hoping Eva would be out of it but it looks like it will drag on a while longer yet.

I agree with all this. The story is like almost everything in hollyoaks, a bunch of random stuff jumbled together and hope for the best. It has all been for nothing dispite all the hipe. Pointless, and a waste of time.

I know, plus this big fear over panto 'Eva'!! As soon as they knew Eva was the one after them they could have reported her. I bet even after Esther's been shot Eva will still be a copper & get away with what she did to her. Ridiculous!!

Did she sign her gun out? If so, what reason did she give? Surely she couldn't have fled the scene, what was Grace thinking?

Damp squib surely (as in it didn't go with a bang)? But you're definitely correct I was expecting something much more juicy when in fact Jack was the victim of his brother's bullying. I was imagining something juicy we could properly loathe Jack for. I still get why Eva hates him despite this but not his own family who between them are just as bad if not worse (Kim covering for her murderous sister, Darren the body snatcher and framer etc).

Hiya Bernard!!

Knowing how naff the Hollyoaks police force are she could literally write 'off to shoot my uncle' & they wouldn't bat an eyelid!!!

Hahaha!! Thanks for the correction!!

Good point about loopy Kim & of course Dancy moving Paddy's body & framing Sienna etc, Dancy who were obviously the *cough* scariest crime duo since Bonnie & Clyde (for all the wrong reasons)!!
