Does anyone know the name of the actor who played young Jack? I swear I've seen him before.
I thought I recognised him too. I watched river city years ago and he reminded me of one the young brothers in it. Can't remember much else I'm afraid.

As for the episode, I'm willing to accept any ridiculous storyline as long as it brings the strongest actors/characters to the forefront. Esther has to survive after her criminal underuse for so long.

I know, plus this big fear over panto 'Eva'!! As soon as they knew Eva was the one after them they could have reported her. I bet even after Esther's been shot Eva will still be a copper & get away with what she did to her. Ridiculous!!
Oh absolutely she will. She will be protected and they're will be an attempt to force the viewers to have sympathy for her just like with ste.

Did she sign her gun out? If so, what reason did she give? Surely she couldn't have fled the scene, what was Grace thinking?
I doubt someone of her rank would be assigned a fire arm, more likely she got it via dodgy means. But i'm open to correction.

How did the Osbornes just let her walk out the door.
'Cause that's what the script says Sorry it's the best answer i've got.

I wouldn't be sorry if Esther dies. Surely she's used up her nine lives by now?

As much as I've enjoyed watching Esther over the years I don't think she would be a huge loss now as she has become more wallpaper of recent times. I suppose she is still a character with links (Frankie, Kim, Grace via Curtis) she doesn't really do much nor has done for a while. She owns a coffee shop and is a face behind the counter, that is when she happens to be there.

I feel the same, I don't care if she pulls through or not.

Does anybody else feel like we are heading for a whodunnit with Eva?

Possibly, as it would be a good excuse to drag out a story relating to a character nobody cares about.

That and he was in his 60s when he died whereas Eva is only in her early 30s ... he must've got out at some point and gone back in
Did not think of that earlier. V good point / idea

I'm really not being optimistic regarding Esther. Honestly, the writers haven't seemed to know what to do with her since the suicide attempt, and her death would only maximise the drama with Grace wanting Eva dead and the Osbornes creating a larger rift with Jack. I hope I'm wrong, but it's not looking good
Agreed. We need Eva dead. And Liam the Lousy hairdresser needs to go away

Many of us thought the same about Joanne but that never came to fruition. Wouldn't surprise me if Eva and Joanne become recurrent characters mysteriously forgiven by all they have wronged as there is still some mileage in both (long term).

It is strange how Jack's only "friend" right now is Eva who actually needs him at the moment so possibly a forced union.

I could see Liam being more a victim of a whodunit actually.
