couldn't see a thread on this ,

I just watched this on the iplayer , it was brilliant , the voices , especially Dominic West were great , and the animation was so well timed - facial expressions rather than action .

I also enjoyed it and like you thought it was really well put together (and a bit scary too).

I enjoyed these. Nicely animated and as others have already said a bit scary too.
I'm not familiar with the stories so I came to them new and liked that
Spoiler

Have they been adapted before? I could have sworn there was a version using Quentin Blake's original illustrations.

If they haven't they should have been! They'd make a great film having seen this - a live action/CGI mix wouldn't be too expensive. Of course an animation based on the originals would be great/better

I was surprised to see Blake credited at the beginning when they didn't use him. I guess either he had more of a hand in the original than just the drawings (perhaps his doodles inspired Dahl as well as vice versa, or maybe it's contractual).

I wanted to buy Revolting Rhymes for a young relative this Xmas, and was horrified to see it only seems available in some cheapo paperback with terrible quality reproductions of Blake's work.

I still have the glorious original large hardback (just found it ) which I would have thought a no-brainer to keep publishing (although it was expensive at the time in the 80s - around a tenner I think - 'new' condition copies of it now seem to go for about £100)

It was the same with Narnia - I read all the reviews of the paperbacks and it seems they've edited the stories in most available versions. Why are they ruining classic children's stories?

Fantastic, understated, beautiful and a wonderful nod to a same sex relationship. One of the best things over the Christmas period.

My grandchildren have the book and I love the way they have seamlessly blended Roald Dahl's rhymes into a great story. My favourite is the wolf!

the wolf certainly ends up the most sympathetic character .

and I loved this rhyme :

"The small girl smiles. One eyelid flickers.
She whips a pistol from her knickers."

Sadly there's only the 6 short stories of Revolting Rhymes.

I've only seen the first half so far, and really like the animation, and although clever how the stories were blended together, I think I would have preferred if they'd stuck to doing the whole of one story before moving onto the next instead of jumping around the verses from one story to another. It also meant the Three Little Pigs was barely touched upon.

If there was a follow-up I would suggest an adaptation of Dirty Beasts or Rhyme Stew which are collections of poems about animals and in Rhyme Stew further parodies (although more risque) of fairy tales.
