I shop in Waitrose, M & S, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl. It all depends on what I want. I like the organic range from Sainsbury and Waitrose. Luxury items from Waitrose and M & S. Salmon from Morrison. House hold items from Aldi and Lidl and sometimes pound plus. It also depends on where I am too. If I am nearer a Waitrose I will buy more things from there. On boxing day bought loads of clothes in the sale and luxury food products from M & S. Cant stand Tesco or Asda. Food never looks good IMO.
So at the end of the day, it all depends on what I want and where I am. |

Personally, I don't think there's really any discernible difference between Waitrose and the other big supermarkets.

Hereford beef that is not from Hereford, probably comes from poland or somewhere like that and just packed in the UK. Called Hereford beef because it comes from the Hereford breed, but i bet they are no where near Hereford.
i do not like Sainsburys bread and I do not buy fresh veg, always frozen. I found there was just as many badly behaved children as in any other store, i can not really call it a supermarket. Waitrose beef Quote:
Waitrose beef is sourced from a carefully chosen group of British farmers
Let's hope their lawyers don't read DS, eh?

The foods mentioned above aren't all (if any) exclusively sold at Waitrose.
You will find Jackson,s bread on sale at: Morrisons, Tesco, Asda, Booths & the Co op. Sainsbury sells Momas porridge and Delouis mayonaise... Of course other shops sell the same beanded products as Waitrose, that would be true of any supermarket unless they had an exclusivity deal with them. however Waitrose are often more likely to have a wider range of those products under the same roof. For example we do most of our shopping in Morrisons, simply because they are the closest supermarket. It is small and the range is somewhat limited but for 90% of what we buy they are fine. But, for example, I have Jordan's Crunchy Oat Granola for breakfast at the weekend, my local Morisons only stock one variety, Raisin & Almond, whereas Waitrose stock all three varieties. It is the same with ingredients. For example is we decide to do a chicken recipe for Sunday lunch we really like which requires fresh tarragon, I know Waitrose will sell it and I also know Morrisons won't. |

Just downloaded the Ocado app after reading this thread. Quite fancy checking out some of the products and we don't have a Waitrose near me.
So what is going in my basket for my first shop then ladies and gents? |

I don't use Waitrose direct but I get quite a few of their products from Ocado. I'm a huge fan of their essential range. Their essential baked beans are the my favourite, even over the branded beans.

Same here. There isn't a Waitrose in the town where I live, but I get quite a few things from their Essential range from Ocado, and agree with you about their baked beans. I also get their Essential cannellini beans, kidney beans and tomatoes for cooking, as well as their muesli, yoghurt and things like rice, couscous, pasta etc. Almost all my cleaning materials, bin liners and bleach are Essential as well.

What amazes me about all these food and supermarket threads is the snobbery about better quality and better variety.
I must confess that in my mind food is the second most overrated thing on the planet. It is just fuel to nourish your body and keep you going. I cook everything from fresh and we eat fairly well but I really couldn't be bothered with anything that requires more than an hour a day from fridge to dishwasher with preparation, cooking and eating in between. I sometimes read recipes in the passing whilst looking at a magazine and I have to confess that I have no idea what half of the ingredients even are, never mind what you do with them. There are two supermarkets where I live, Tesco and Lidl. Neither is perfect but they are both adequate and save me a 24 mile return journey to find the same food in different wrapping from another supermarket. In theory by this time next year we should also have and Aldi, But they said that last year as well so I am not holding my breath. |

i was not saying there was a load of children out of control or even one, as such, but the ones that was in there was no acting any differently to the ones in any other shops.
anyway, I thought you left the country, ![]() Jam? I do make my own but if you need to buy it pay more, there is a massive difference in quality between cheap tat and the good preserves. |

Don't go to Booth's noise, - don't think you would like that either!
Although their bakery section is awesome, especially the bread. Booth's baker is as you say - quite awesome. Their pies are to die for. I can recommend the butter pie if you are a vegetarian. |
